Spring Break - Next Year I'm Tempted to Do a Cheap Carribean Getaway

Mamas & Papas-

DS is 2.5 and his daycare is closed for a week for Spring Break. Next year it will be pre-school, and it too will be closed for a week for Spring Break. This year we handled the time off by having hubs, my parents and I each take extra time with DS to provide care. Next year though, I am tempted to do a cheap all inclusive carribbean getaway during this time. With inclement weather, and all of us getting sick, it has been a real bear of a week. I think I'd rather be poolside with an all you can eat buffet and tropical beverages. When DS was 7 months old, hubs and I went to an all inclusive in the DR where each additional day was only $20 per adult. Makes it very tempting indeed.

What say you?

Best to you and yours,
F. B.

The thought of the hassles of the airport, flying, getting through customs, and taxi ride all with my 3 year old makes me shudder in horror and he's relatively well behaved.

Can I go in your suitcase? lol

I would go if I were you. I love the Caribbean and after a long winter what could be better than the warm sun.

Enjoy!!!!

Have you considered a cruise out of NY? Royal Caribbean and Norwegian do them (I'd stay away from Carnival). Otherwise, anywhere all in inclusive sounds terrific. And if you have some extra money to spend - go for one with onsite babysitting/kids club or a nanny!!

I hear ya. My daughter's preschool is closed next week but is open for makeup snow days!

But hey, if you could afford to get away, why the heck not!

I wish I could!

How odd, I've never heard of a full child care facility being closed during spring break, that must have been really hard on you.

I'd say next year there will be just as many, if not more, days he'll be out of school. Regular school program preschools take out the same days as the regular school district.

Find a child care center that is open on those days out of school. They should also transport and feed him snacks/breakfast. When he's out of school they'll also feed him another snack and lunch.

Good luck, going on a cruise would be awesome for sure. Get a base tan first.

i think it's a gorgeous idea. everybody is sick of it all by the end of winter, and a completely new venue, especially somewhere warm and bright, would give the old brains a glorious spring lift.
be careful of the 'cheap', though. those carnival cruise lines sound like nightmares waiting to happen!
