Dear S.,
I saw some who recently had it done and it looked orange. It did not look natural. L. J

Hi. I had spray tanning done at a tanning salon. You had to rub lotion on your hands and feet, put goggles on and put a cap over your hair. Then you got in this big machine and you were supposed to hold your breath. The spray thing started and sprayed you up and down on the front and then it paused and you had to turn around and it would spray the back of you. It looked good after it was finished and the tan lasted for about a week. I personally found the whole process of holding your breath uncomfortable so I had a few sessions and never went back. It was expensive and it didn't seem worth it for the price. I have tried spray tanners at home and I just ended up with a mess. I found a lotion tanner that I really like called St. Tropez and I have used that ever since.

Hi S., I had airbrush tan done for a very formal wedding my husband and I attended. I did a trial a few weeks before to make sure I wasn't going to look like an orange freak but it worked pretty well much to my surprise. The spray lasts 7-10 days so I followed up with another two days before the wedding. Everyone honestly thought my husband and I had vacationed prior to coming to the wedding!

I had on an old swim suit although I think if you wore a dark color it wouldn't matter and a trained person airbrushes the pigment on. I did not have to protect certain areas like heals etc as the gal who did mine had done so many knew how to go over those areas without causing unsighltiness.

I also had no problem with the pigment coming off on clothing with the exception of what I wore immediately after the session- just wear something light and old.

On the other side a friend of mine swears by Neutrogena self tanner. She uses it every summer and looks wonderful. Exfoliate good use the lighter color then move up to the desired pigment.

Good luck.
Cyndi

i did it once in preparation for the webn pregnant bikini contest (i 'tattooed' their logo on my belly this way). the woman below described it perfectly. it is a little stressful w/the no breathing. doesn't sound like you have to hold your breath for a long time, but i wound up inhaling a large mouthful of the stuff. it took a few days for the tan to really 'show up' (i only did it the night before). pretty expensive for how long it lasts and who knows what those chemicals do to your body. but if you're only doing it one shot, it's better than the beds, imho (tho i've never gotten in one - too scary). but do it a few days before you really want to look tan.

I dont like the spray tan, my daughter has tried it 3 different times at a tanning place here in Fairfield a well respected place and every time it looked horrible. This last time was a week before prom and oh my Goddess it looked bad...she used everything she could think of to take it off..including bleach..it is something I would not reccomend. she was so upset...she tried it again because she thought surely this time it would look good...no way..

I've never had it done professionally, but I really like the Neutrogena self-tanning foam. The foam makes it really easy to put on and it dries fast so you don't have to spend an hour in the bathroom. Plus it looks very natural, never orange, and it's only about $8 a bottle.

Hi S. my experience with self spray tanning is it turned out a mess. Some of it look like orange spots but if you had someone to do it for you it may look ok. My hair dresser has it done at some spa.

I bought his set @ Sally Beauty supply and it is wonderful.. Not sure of the brand but it plugs in and you place the bottle of tanner on it and a fine mist is sprayed. I bought it in 2005 when I was married and all of the girls in the wedding used it and we all looked great. I have had professional spray tans before and the results are just as good, you just may need someone to help you get your back. It was around $90 for the set.
