I know tanning beds are bad for your skin and overall health. I was wondering about spray tanning. Is it safe, does it look good. I have tried lotions and creams, but I am just not that good at it and also hard to find time to lotion up everyday.

What can I do next?

I get spray tans from LA Tan. One day a week they usually have them for a discount if you don't want to buy a package. Some locations have choices as to how dark you can get. I have found that the lighter spray tan fades more evenly and doesn't leave spots when it starts to fade. It still gives good color and lasts for about 5 days.

It is completely safe. I do it about once a week and it is so much better than the lotions and creams. Those take too much time and too much work to get good results. The spraying takes maybe 3 min and you are finished. Within 4 hours you have a great beach tan that won't cause cancer!

I have used Neutragena's micromist in a can, the airbrush sunless tan and love it. I am not a fan of the spray tans at salons, but the can sprays evenly no matter which direction you hold it. After a few days of use you have a nice tan and it sticks around for at least a week or more with daily showering. It came highly recommended from a few friends and I'm happy with it.

Love the Mystic Tans at LA TAN. I usually do them before a vacation, but I will probably go back in the spring.

I got my first spray tan for the firs time (the one in the room). They provide a bottle of lotion to goop on your cuticles and any other dry areas so that area doesn't get too dark. I was pretty satisfied overall. Once the macine stops, you are supposed to dab off. The key here is to dab fast. They told me to start at my feet, but by the time I got to my arms, they were pretty dry already so my arms were darker than my legs. The one bad thing is that you are not supposed to shower for at least 6 hours afterwards if possible. LA tan seems to have pretty good deals and they do have one day a week where you can just pay for one tan @ a discount ($10) to give it a try. Good luck and enjoy!

Spray tans are awesome! It doesn't last for more than a few days but if you're looking to look tan for an event, it's perfect. Do it the day before. You can't shower for a few hours after you get it.
By spray tan, I mean one that a person sprays on you, not the little room you go in and it's like a shower. I did that and it was horrible and uneven. I do know people who've had success with that but they had darker skin that isn't dry.
If you do it make sure you wear loose fitting clothes (ie: sweat pants, loose shirt (no bra after).
Good luck, you'll love it!

It is a healthy alternative to tanning although I have never read the label on what is actually in it! I have done it a few times and It seems to last closer to a week for me. The first 12 hours or so you can't shower or some of it will wash off. I would go right before bedtime and put on the older sheets that I didn't care if they got stained. They have a cream you put on your hands feet and elbows. Be sure to use it!!! The first time I went, I didn't use enough and had ORANGE hands for 2 days. Not pretty. Overall, I was happy with the results.
