My son has had a few spots that look like whiteheads on his face the last couple of days. They don't seem to bother him. Today, he's got like 8. I don't see any on other parts of his body. Do you think I should take him to the doctor?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So, I took my son (who's 4 by the way) to the doctor and he seemed very puzzled. After looking him over, the doctor said it could be impantego (spelling?). He gave us a prescription for Keflex. I haven't filled it yet because I felt like he just didn't know what else to say. I don't know what to do. I actually had an appt. at the dermatologist today and purposly took him along. Of course, the doc said she couldn't comment on it for legal reasons unless he's a patient there. UGH!! Do you think I should fill the prescription? He's just been on sooooo many over the years for ear infections, I hate to give him something he may not really need. What would you guys do?

I took my daughter to the hospital for the red spots on the face, they looked sore and raw. They were very puzzled and didn't know what it was. The only thing they could think of was possibly impantigo (sp?). They also gave me a prescription for Keflex. It will not hurt him to take it even if thats not what it is. I definitely would get a second opinion. My kids both had the coksaki (hand, foot and mouth) but they were blisters. My daughter only had it in her mouth and a few on her hand, but my son had only one spot in his mouth and a bunch on his hands and feet. But they were bigger blister-like spots.
How old is your son? Because I know both of my kids had little white spots on their faces within the first year and doctor told me it was just calcium deposites, that they would go away on their own and they did!!! hope that helps...lol

My kids had them before and the doctor told me they were baby acne. It is basically the same thing as adults get. Don't pick at them or put anything on them and tehy will go away all on their own. I hope I could help

Hey J., I would take him to the Dr. It could be something called imptaigo, which is a bacterial infection it is not anything to seroius. If it is that, it is very easy to clear up, they will give you a cream to put on it and an antibotic. My friends child had this about a year ago, she did not realize what it was at first and then it kept getting worse, when she ended up taking him to the Dr. he had a lot more and they also blistered, but like your son they were not bothering him too much that is why she was not concerned to take him to the Dr. Hopefully this will help you.

How old is your son? It can be baby acne. Call the doc if it worries you, better safe than sorry!

I would at least call about it and ask. Not sure what that is. My son had a couple before and they went away on their own.

i know a lot of kids get Hand Mouth and Foot syndrome, but if you don't see them on other parts of the body it may not be, but if it is, be very careful because it's very contagious for like 7-12 days or so. the pimples become whiteheads and are very painful depending on where they are. Nothing to worry about a lot of kids get it sooner or later. just keep clean and make sure to wash your hands as well as the babies.
Great luck
J. :)
