Spot Cleaning Carpet While Potty Training

My 22 month old daughter (and our family) is in the midst of potty training. This morning she had her first "accident" on the carpet and I realized I had no idea what to use to clean it up. Does anyone have any non-toxic cleaning recommendations for cleaning up potty accidents? Much thanks!

What can I do next?

A great non-chemical product is called Pre-Spot and it's made by Melaleuca. I don't sell that stuff, but lots of people in DFW do. All their products are completely all-natural. No chemicals at all. I have used most of them and really, they DO work great. They are a little bit more expensive but not a lot.

the most important thing is to wick up the liquid so it doesn't absorb into the pad/subflooring.

while the area is wet (if it's dried, wet it with solution or water), place a thick towel folded over a few times on top of the whole area. Use a light colored towel to prevent bleeding dye onto the carpet.
Place something heavy on top to draw the stain/fluid into the towel.

Our dog manages to hit the carpet every time she throws-up which is usually bilous, and this technique from the Queen of Clean has worked in 99% of situations.

Oxyclean is the BEST! We use it on pet spots, but pee is pee.

1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide 1/2 cup ammonia, put in a spray bottle or just pour it on the carpet and blot off.
Test your carpet first to make sure it does not affect the color.

First I soak up as much fluid as possible with dry towels to avoid mold/mildew smell later on in the carpet/padding. Then I use about 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda for every 1 cup of warm water to blot and remove the stain. If possible, I put a fan blowing on the wet spot to dry it faster after cleaning as well. Usually results in no stain and no smell.

If it's a non-liquid or surface area stain, the baking soda/water works great, but baby wipes work great for those types of stains as well.

Blessings,
N.

Spot Shot works great. I also use Febreeze Anti-Microbial once the stain is removed.

Soak the area in 50% water, 50% vinigar and then blot with a towel. It will neutralize the acid which is what causes the smell.

I use vinegar and water to clean up potty accident's. Spray it on, scrub with a brush and then use a towel to dry it up.
