Hey Mommies!

I have twin boys who are 26 months. I am wanting to get them involved in sports and also some swim lessons. My husband and I both work full time so it would have to be on weekends or after 5. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful!

What can I do next?

I think the YMCA offers swim lessons for that age. You might pull it up online and see where the closet one is. And the ones in my area offer evening classes. As far as other sports - I don't know if there is anything for the age of your boys. Most sports start at the age of 3 or 4. Again - check out the YMCA and you might check your local city community center.

I don't know where you live, but the YMCA in Bedford has night and saturday swimming lessons. City of Hurst also offers night classes. We started my son in Soccer Tots at 18 months (on Saturday mornings) and he loves it.

Hi-

I train children ages 6mos-6yrs old aquatic survival skills in The Colony (not far from you). Please feel free to check out my website for more information (www.mybabycanswim.com or the national website at www.infantswim.com).

Just to give you more information about the program: Lessons are one-on-one, Monday-Friday with each student for a maximum of 10 mins per day. It typically takes 4 to 6 weeks for your child to complete the initial lesson series.

Survival Float
Babies 6 to 14 months old are very active and surprisingly quick! The Rollback-to-Float program introduces the correct floating posture for survival as well as the skills necessary to maneuver into a float. Babies learn quickly from their physical environment. This is how they learn to crawl and walk. But water is an unforgiving environment. For this reason aquatic survival skills for the infant and toddler must be taught by a certified ISR instructor. These skills will be practiced for complete mastery even while fully clothed with diaper and shoes. All lessons are taught one-on-one for a period of 10 minutes daily, Monday-Friday. Approximate class length: 4-6 weeks.

SWIM-FLOAT-SWIM Ages 15 months to 6 years
The Swim-Float-Swim program encompasses the skills necessary for a child to reach the steps, edge of the pool or shore. This includes swimming and floating. This process begins with teaching the child breath control and the skills to turn around in the water to grab the edge. As the child becomes capable of longer swims the rollback-to-float is taught so the child can rest and breathe, and then continue swimming. This sequence can be repeated indefinitely until the child reaches safety. These skills will be practiced for complete mastery even while fully clothed with shoes and diaper for those not toilet trained. All lessons are taught one-on-one for a period of 10 minutes daily, Monday-Friday. Approximate class length: 6-8 weeks.

My son is 2 1/2 and for the past few months he has been taking swimming lessons through Aquatots/Floating Kiwis and participating in Lil Sluggers baseball lessons on the weekends. They also have a soccertots program for learning soccer. Check out lilsluggerdallas.com or the aquatots. We have been so pleased with his involvement. I've been trying to keep my energetic boy busy.
