Help, I spilled 'a lot' of oil in the kitchen. Does anyone know a good way to get it up?

What can I do next?

clay based cat litter will soak it up.

Cat litter, just not the clumping kind. That is what my husband uses in the garage when he spills motor oil. It absorbs the moisture and then you can just sweep it up.

At my old job we used to put a lot of washing powder on it then sweep it up.

After getting the oil up as per suggestions here, use a soluation with Dawn dish detergent to get the residue off the floor. They use it to clean petroleum spills off of wild animals becuase it's so effecitve on greasy stuff.

Jamie J is right, it is the best way, especially if you have tile floors.

salt it, wipe it quickly with paper towels, and then, use baby wipes :)
