Hi Mamas, I am wondering if anyone has found a truly leak proof/spill proof sippy cup. My 2 1/2 year old is on a special diet for epilepsy (the ketogenic diet). He MUST drink all of his liquid nutrition which we must weigh out and calculate grams of nutrition (fat, carbs, protein, etc.). I transitioned him to sippy cups this weekend and took away the bottle. He's doing wonderfully, but with being at day care all day and weekend excursions, we MUST find a truly spill-proof sippy cup to ensure he gets every last drop of his nutrition.
We have tried: Gerber, Playtex, and the cups with straws (from Target, not sure of the manufacturer). We have found that all of these leak if they tip sideways in his lunch bag or diaper bag, not good.
Has anyone found a sippy cup that truly doesn't leak? We need to weigh and measure his food fool-proof and ensure that he gets every last drop.

My son drinks out of the NUBY sippy cups from wal-mart or target. You can get them at both. He is constantly throwing them on the floor or couch and they don't leak. (Unless they get slammed down really hard - messy)
I tried a bunch of different kinds and these seemed to work out for us and they are not expensive at all. I think they were around $2.00 each??

My girlfriend turned me on to organic "first Juices" from whole foods. They are a little costly, but you can reuse the container (like a sports bottle) and they do not leak at all. My two year old son loves the juice, so far we have only bought them for him when we travel.
I always loved my Tupperware sippies, they NEVER leaked if the tops were on right. And they come with spill-proof solid tops for transporting, you then put the sippy top on when ready to serve. You can order them on-line at tupperware.com and they ship to your home (and NO, I don't sell them, but I have lived in many tropical climates and my kitchen supplies go with me in Tupperware without ever getting affected by the humidity, so I am a huge fan of the stuff!)
I haven't tried these yet but I've heard really good things about the Foogo sippy made by Thermos.

The Born Free ones that are available at Whole Foods are pretty good. I've turned it upside down and nothing comes out unless you squeeze the nozzle.
Hi, the Sigg water bottles are spill proof. you have to twist the top open and shut though. Elephant pharmacy in walnut creek carries them.Good luck, D.
It's not necessarily a sippy cup, but I have found one cup that I love. You will find them in the food section of Target. They are already filled with juice, and come with characters for tthe tops. My son can't drink juices, so I just dumped out the juice, cleaned them real well, and he's had them forever. I've never had any problems with them spilling. I don't remember who they're by, but you can get them in Pooh, Bob the Builder, etc. Look in the juice section!
My Born Free sippy cups never leak. And they are PBA free!

wow, give your self a pat on the back for being so actively involved in the lives of your teenager and your amazing toddler *and* working full time.
My girls are 6.5YO so their sippy cup days are behind us, but some things I *do* remember:
-keeping your son's meals upright and at a controlled temperature is key. When the contents of a sippy cup get warm, they expand and exert pressure on the valve. Enough pressure and you'll get leaks. Perhaps a couple reusable blue ice blocks can help keep the cups upright *and* control the temperature? and maybe a hard-sided cooler box would help keep the cups upright better than a lunch bag or softsided carrier?
-I would always put my girls' sippy cups in a ziplock bag so that if the cups warmed up enough to leak, at least the leaks were contained. not sure if this really helps with your situation though since you need to make sure that your son gets all his food without leaks
