gold or silver strappy high heeled shoes. They go with everything. Dying shoes to match an outfit is sooooo 80's! Please don't do that!
Hi Mamas! I am attending a party soon and have the perfect dress! Problem is, it is a hard color to find shoes for. Does anyone know of a high-end, or specialty shoe store where maybe I could find something wonderful or have it dyed to match? Is there a good place to shop for the right shoe or is there a place besides David's Bridal to find shoes to have dyed? Thanks for all the help! *The dress is a blush/opaque/tan looking thing that is super feminine...sort of reminds me of the one Nicloe Kidman wore to some red carpet thing (or maybe it was the perfume commercial she had), but this one is short. I've tried gold and silver metalic, jeweled, chocolate satin...even black satin but that one seems to harsh for the dress...

Have you tried Salvation Army, Good will, or the local Thrift Store? I have seen "speciality" shoes many a time at these places. Good luck.
Dyed shoes are for the prom. Please don't dye shoes--rather go for some nice high end shoes at Nordstroms or Neimans--because it is December, black, red or metalic are the best choices :)
Payless has shoes that can be dyed! They only have a couple of styles, but they are classic and aren't gonna cost you a fortune!
I watch What Not to Wear all the time :) and what Stacy and Clinton would say is: don't bother dying shoes to match since they will only go with that one dress. Metallic colored heels would complement the dress and could be worn again. You could get silver or gold - whichever you think goes best with your dress. They would be sparkly and festive. Have fun at the party!
I support the last gal. Gold, silver or black will look great and your dress will be the focus. Please don't dye your shoes to match! That is truly an outdated trend- like changing your handbag every day to match your shoes. That is why you can hardly find dyeable shoes anymore. Luckily we don't have to be matchy-matchy anymore to be fashionable. And you won't be stuck with shoes you'll never wear again!
Have fun at the party!
While I would normally say not to get dyed shoes, I, too, have been in the situation where none of the 'normal' options seem to work. Here's what I've done to solve the delimma.
First, decide whether your dress looks better next to the matte look of leather or the shimmery look of satin/sequin. Next, decide if the dress is more yellow-toned or pink-toned. You mention that it is "blush/tan". Blush seems pink-toned and tan seems yellow-toned to me. Deciding which is the dominant tone will be important because you need your shoes to have the same tone as your dress or else the overall effect will come off as harsh.
Once you have those two answers, you can go shopping. Take the dress with you. Look at tan or blush shoes but don't try to match the color, just try to find a shade that complements it. The big rule here is that the shoe should always be a little darker than the dress or else the shoe will overpower the outfit. Remember that a shimmery shoe will always seem lighter colored from the foot (due to reflecting in the light) than it's fabric looks close up, so if you go for a shimmery fabric make sure to go even a little darker. (That doesn't mean to go brown, just a little deeper of a tan than if it was leather, etc.)
If you still can't find the perfect shoe... go ahead and get a shoe that you can dye. I believe Nordstrom sells some nice looking, reasonably priced but not cheap, styles. I'd call stores beforehand and ask first. Go strappy to keep from having the "80's look". Then choose a fabric and color using what I said above. I've done this a couple times and it worked out well.
I know you'll find the right pair! Have fun!
Payless dyes shoes that you purchase from them.
I would recommend Gregory's at the galleria. They are on the high end, but they have beautiful shoes!
Don't ever dye shoes... get a coordinating color! Let us know the color of the dress, and we can give you some ideas.
