Has anyone seen unusual cups that will help toddlers drink from an open top cup (that will help with less spills)? My son is a special needs, he needs to start drinking from a cup and I was wondering if anyone has heard or used of such product. If so please let me know of the name or the link to a website. Or other suggestions are appreciated.
Thannk so much.

I haven't bought them yet, but am planning to- there's the "Stackable Steadycups" from One Step Ahead. Here's the link...http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId.... They look good for less spills, no?

I have the cups jennifer is talking about. They are playtex brand sippy cups. They sell them at Babies R Us in a two pack which makes them a bit more affordable.

Hi A.,

I have six year old son with Down syndrome and he was my first born and totally changed my life. It really is a blessing isn't it? I'm studying to be an occupational therapist because of him and it's become my dream job :)

There's a cup we have that has a stopper in the top of a regular cup and when they drink, their lip presses on the stopper to release the fluid. We got it at walmart.. I think they still sell them. If not, let me know and I can give you ours. It works okay, but we had more success just letting him practice in the bath tub and then giving him straws to drink out of (better for strengthening those oral motor muscles) the rest of the day.

I have seen cups like that at Wal-Mart. They're no-spill sippy cups, but they don't have a spout-just a rim. You still have to suck on it, though, because it's no-spill. I used them with my oldest kids, when they were younger.

This is not exactly what you were looking for, but I saw this in a magazine. It is a juice box holder,so they cannot squeeze their juiceboxes all over everything. Open cups are a lost cause for us unless we really feel like mopping the floors.

At Babies R Us they have Platex and maybe other brands that carry all stages of sippy cups. I believe the last stage 4 or 5 is a cup with a large opening in it.
