Does anyone use or has anyone tried using space bags? Do they work? I'm running out of room to store bins of outgrown baby clothes!

What can I do next?

I have not read anyone's response but I must tell you that I love the space bag. I had quilts laying all over the place. I bought 2 bags just to try out and I loved it. I have a quilt in each bag and I sucked all the air out with the vacuum and now they are under my bed, no one knows it's there :)

I bought some and so far have only used the hanger ones, where you can hang some sweaters and jackets. I sucked the air out with my vaccuum and pretty cool but days later was back to normal. I don't know if I don't have it zipped all the way or what. The zipper is like a regular baggie so if is not all pressed together correctly there will be an air leak. So for me they aren't the greatest, but like I said I only tried the closet, hanger one.

my mother bought those space bags and I was a bit skeptical at first, you can't really believe everything you see on tv. Now I use them myself. They save a lot of space in my apartment. I use them for comforters as well as winter clothes. They really do work...hope this helps

Just be careful not to fill very full. If you do they don't shrink very flat. hth

I did not like the space bags. I didn't think that they shrank down as much as they claimed to and storing them is a huge pain, you can't stack them and they're cumbersome. I think it's just easier to use boxes.

We like them... We've got all of our old baby clothes in them, and unused comforters and blankets. We fill space bags, shrink them, and then stick them in rubbermaid totes. We haven't had problems.

My first question is are you saving the clothes in case you have another child? If not, maybe you should have a garage sale, or even better donate the clothes that are in decent condition to a local women's shelter or church as they are always in need.

For the space bags, I have never used them but I have an Aunt who has used them for storing blankets, extra linens, etc and she has had good luck with them.

I just tried these. They work in the sense that the air gets sucked out of the bag. But the way I laid the clothes in, the bag is not flat. I think you have to lay the clothes in with them being perfectly flat, not folded.

I don't dislike the product. I have three others that came in the package I bought. I will use those as well. I would like to try the larger storage bins for my son's baby clothes as well.

Space bags are horrible! They shrink down really well, but after a while, the air gets in so then they're pointless. The only ones I really like are the Spacebag stacker cube. (not sure if that's the real name) It is a spacebag built into a zip up canvas bag in the shape of a rectangle/cube. I got mine at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and I've also seen it at Target. It runs for about $20. The reason I like it is because even if air gets into the bag, it does not expand because it is all zipped up! Hope that helps! Actually, here's what the under the bed one looks like:

Yep, they are GREAT! We store our bigger blankets and things in them. I think they are really helpful if space is at a premium.

When I had my first child my sister gave me all her daughter's hand-me-downs packed up in those space bags. Now I have clothes just in bags/boxes and I have some in those space bags-- and the space bags definitely help. Beware though because some brands are good quality and work well and some don't. I think I bought some at Target that don't work very good. :(

I have used space bags for that exact same purpose and they work great! The only one I would not recommend is the Jumbo size, I have one and so does my mom and neither seem to stay sucked down, but all of the other sizes do. They are well worth the money.

Actually, my mother is the one who got me hooked on them. I have stored clothes, winter gear, comforters, blankets, summer beach towels. Once they are completely sealed I store them in a storage bin. I also add a fabric softner sheet to keep the clothes smelling fresh. I hope this helps.

yes they work well i used them for the same reason. I agree with the other mom who said the jumbo ones don't stay vaccuum sealed. other than that size they work great. good luck.

They work great! I moved 4 times in the last year, and that was how I packed instead of boxes or bins! It saved so much room, and it was so easy to pack around.

Do buy the better brands thou. I tried the cheaper ones, I think Ziploc came out with something - but they eventually fill back up with air and defeat the purposed.

Use a vacuum to suck out the air...and it also helps to have two people there to push out the air (or sitting on it will work if you have just one). PLUS - when you open the bag, the clothes aren't even wrinkled!

Tip: once they are shrunk down, maybe then put them in a bin. The bags are hard to stack on one another as they are slippery! Also..."google" for space bag coupons - you never know, so sites have them! We got our at Home Depot on sale.

Have fun!

I just used a whole bunch of these for afgans, comforters, baby afgans and crib sets(my kids are 19 and 13)they work great. I was really impressed. You can find them at walmart for a great price. they sell them individually or in combo sets. I also bought one of the walmart brands, but haven't sealed it up yet. I am not as impressed with this brand. the regular space bags have a zipper lock seal, the other brand just presses together.you can really fit a lot into the jumbo size!!!

I have used them and they can be great. I do ususally store them in bins once they are full to protect them from tearing.
Also - unless you are planning to have a nother child - donate them to a clothes pantry, Goodwill, etc. but keep a list - it can be a tax deduction.

I bought mine off the internet. I didn't buy the name brand one. They don't work quite as well as the original brand name spacesaver bags which I've used in the past. They were a lot cheaper though. Some of the bags hold a good seal, others tend to fill back up with air.

I use them all the time. I have a ton of them! I don't think they work as well as they are advertised, but then again...I may not be packing them exactly like they advertise either. But I really do think they are worth the price and they DO save alot of space!
