I don't use soy milk. But we avoid cow milk, in favor of almond and rice milk. I usually buy one vanilla and one chocolate and mix them together because the chocolate tends to be too rich for the kids (but just right for mommy LOL)
my daughter who is 15 months doesnt like milk she would rather be thirsty than drink milk. last night i broke down and out a little chocolate in her milk. I know not good but she needed to drink something. anyway i have heard a lot of people talk about soy milk for kids who wont take whole milk. so walking through the soy asile i was a bit over whelmed, brands flavors ect. what should i try?? im so confused!! thanks

Hi, I just wanted to say I breast fed both my girls for so long that going from breast milk to cow milk was not happening. The only way I get my girls to drink milk is by adding a bit of food coloring, I know this sounds weird but they love choosing their color and watching the milk change and they drink it, hahahaha.
I also give them lots of cheese, yogurt and other dairy to make sure they get enough calcium....
Good luck

If she doesn't like milk, I'm not so sure she will like soy. She might like the vanilla or strawberry better, but not so sure that's any better than chocolate (extra calories, etc.) My daughter will not drink white milk either so I let her have chocolate milk twice a day. I mix half and half of white milk and chocolate. THey still have the chocolate taste and fewer calories, but still the goodness of white milk... it just makes me feel better too about what I'm giving my kids.
My sister is a nurse and she said that getting the premixed chocolate milk has fewer calories than the mixing the syrup in with the white milk. I guess because people usually just guess and pour in the syrup.
good luck
We use "silk" plain, the vanilla has a lot of extra sugar that kids don't need. Just get the organic, because less children are allergic to organic soybeans.
My son hates white milk and soy alike. I can't really blame him too much as I also dislike white and soy milk (and always have). I just sprinkle some vanilla carnation instant breakfast in his milk. That does the trick. He drinks it and I don't have to give him a vitamin as the instant breakfast has his vitamins included. I know that doesn't answer your question about soy milk really, but I figured I would post as I struggle with the same issue.
Doesn't really matter what brand, but make sure it's enriched/fortified. My kids LOVE the chocolate Silk. The vanilla-flavored tastes better than the regular (IMHO), but I bake and cook with the regular. Also, the westsoy brand is a little thicker, while Silk has a consistency more like skim milk. One of my sons drinks rice milk. You might also consider trying that or even almond milk or oat milk (although I never had luck with that). I just kept trying different kinds until we found one we liked- the 365 brand at Whole Foods (or Silk if it's on sale). Also, the Full Circle brand at Lowe's is good. Good luck!
I use the Carnation instant Breakfast powder to get my son to drink milk. He has one in the morning when he wakes up, then again before bed and occassionally around nap time too. This way, not only is he getting the milk but all of the added nutrients of the Instant breakfast, and I dont feel bad about giving him chocolate milk.
Have you tasted plain soy milk??? I am not a picky but still can not do soy milk. I have tasted Silk Chocolate Soy milk, and it's really good, but again I think your dauther will like regular milk as long as it is chocolate. Why does she need milk anyways??? As long as she eats enough cheese and yougurt(from whole milk), she will be just fine. They just need fat for the brain, and a few vitamins that are in the milk she can get from other sources. With our first son we never gave him water but milk and watered down juice, now at 3 1/2 he will scream for hours but will not drink water. So with our 17 months old now I give him milk, watered down juice, and a lot of water. And he never complains with either.
Gotta start healthy habits early:)
Don't feel bad about adding chocolate to it, those powders have tons of vitamins in them, just reduce sugar every where else, they also make sugar free versions too.
It could be she is lactose intolerant & the milk makes her feel bad. I hear lots of people like rice milk, Rice Dream for one. You may start her on that and see how it goes. I wouldn't add the chocolate either only because you don't want her to want sweet milk all the time. My 19yodd drinks Lactaid because milk makes her bloated, cramps and diarrhea to name a few issues.
Just ask her if she feels icky when she drinks milk and if so try the rice milk or the Lactaid.
