My son has been on soy formula since shortly after he came home from the hospital and he is almost 11 months old I'm wondering how the transition will be to whole mike should i try him now on some to see how he does? I'm just not sure I need to call his pediatrition but wanted to ask you mom's first.

I just recently switched my son off of soy formula. I started by using soy milk first and doing half and half with his formula then I started mixing half soy milk and half whole milk during the day. After about a week or so I put him on regular milk and he's done fine ever since. I know right before I switched my son I was told about a lot of female hormones in soy formula and milk. I did a little research and apparently there are some new studies you may want to look into. Hope this helps.
Hi,
My son was a soy baby as well and he made the change to whole milk fine for the first 6mos. Then at 18mos the gas and the crankiness came back (like when he was an infant) so I switched him back to soymilk (organic silk) and he is fine. I checked with his doctor and she said it was fine and that I could also offer rice milk as well. (My son isn't lactose intolerant as he eats icecream and cheese but just has a very hard time tolerating whole milk)
Good Luck :)
You should be able to call your pediatrician and leave a VM on the nurses line with your questions/concerns. It's what the doctor's office is there for, right? They shouldn't charge you for a phoned in question.
Good luck!
when I transitioned my boys from soy formula to whole milk I did it at about a year. I started out mixing it then just giving it to them in their cups straight. they still got some formula in their bottle before bed for a bit. We had no problems with the switch
Both my daughter's took soy and when we switched the mto whole milk, they were fine! I think I used lactose free first (for a month or so) and then the whole milk. no problems, and you could start now if you want. I had mine off by 11 months due to a vacation and our pediatrician said it wa sfine.
