Hi Moms,

I am actually a social worker myself and deal with others' anxiety frequently. I usually handle my own with exercise. I have a hurt back and am unable to exercise for a while...this really affects my mood. Any helpful hints or kind words from you great moms out there for dealing with anxiety/depression(other than meds.)I sometimes think hormones play a part-I'm 51. Thanks.

Hi. I did a research proposal for one of my research psychology classes in college, and it was based on the effects of sublingual (under-tongue drops) of Vitamin B12 in people with anxiety and depression. Overall, it did seem to help, because like someone who posted before me said, a deficiency in the B vitamins does affect the personality with regard to anxiety and depressive symptoms. It is worth a shot, and it couldn't hurt. Sublingual B12 can be purchased at the health food store relatively inexpensively. Some even have other B vitamins included, which is great.

Best of luck to you.

Tai Chi or meditation should help... or creative outlets, like painting, drawing, or playing an instrument. I also have sought refuge in my bubble bath, surrounded by candles and music.

hi D.,

I know exactly what you are going thru. First, never cease to pray. God gives amazing strength.

but what helps me is breathing techniques which your therapist can teach you. postive thinking, and never put yourself in a stressful situation when your mood is already on its last rope.

good luck

Try taking a very good multi-vitamin (nikken, solgar, my favs), one made with veggie caps. Many times people that are depressed are low in vitamin B. Avoid vitamins with synthetics, dl-tocopherol (d-tocopherol is natural dl-is synthetic) D & C colors, hard tablets and gelatin (such as one a day and centrum), because they are not easily absorbed. Also, I like to use Rescue Remedy it is homeopathic, non-habit forming, safe for children and pets. I hope this helps. C
