For sore nipples I suggest triple nipple cream- If you find a compounding pharmacy they have the ingredients and will make it up- If you live around McKinney the pharmacy is off University just past 75.
Hey you guys I need BIG HELP! I've never had this much pain from breast feeding. My nipples are so sore and my breast literally hurt. I've put the lanolin cream on them...I've put ice and cold compresses on them. I even put blessed oil on them. Is there any one out there who has the answer!!!! I refuse to give up and give her formula...PLEASE HELP ME!!!
The other thing, she is experiencing out bursts. She could be sleeping and all of sudden she'll cry out loud. Is that gas?
One more thing...thrush. Any home remedies for that?
I'm coming to you guys because all the dr wants to do is give her meds and I'm not really into the med thing. I like home remedies...they have no side effects;0)
You guys are AWESOME!!! I love you all!
Your favorite mommy;0)

Yes! It sounds like thrush. Hopefully, I can give you some hope. When my littlest one was just a tiny guy I had horribly cracked nipples from a really bad latch that was corrected over a short time. BUT during that time I got a yeast infection, not vaginal mind you, it was in my milk ducts. It was the most miserable pain I think I have ever had to torerate.
I took the baby to the pedi and he did not have any signs of thrush, so the doctor pretty much sent us on or merry way. I called my midwife and we started treating both of us for yeast because if we both were not yeast free we would pass it back and forth to each other.
We both took a probiotic and I swabbed his mouth gentian violet. At the same time I took grapefruit seed extract. All this helped me and rather quickly. I did cut out sugar at this time too, this may have been the hardest part of it all.
Two things...
The grapefruit seed extract is bitter, I was told that the baby might be able to taste it in my milk but if he did he never complained. There is a perscription that you can get, Diflucan. Of course, it is a drug but I understand that very little passes into your milk.
And about the genetian violet, it will turn your sweet babe's mouth purple and it will stain. Small price to pay though for relief.
Here is a good article that I got from Kellymom.

Good luck I hope this passes quickly for you. I hate hearing that a fellow breastfeeding mom is in pain. Please let me know how you are doing and if you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me!!
How old is your baby?
The lanolin cream did nothing for me, and actually hurt to put on. Try MotherLove Diaper cream and Thrush. Places like Whole Foods has it, or you can get it online. It is mainly olive oil and is save for baby. Also, if you need the name of a good breastpad, let me know (I used the washable, and this made a huge difference. Are you engorged? If so, pump first before feeding so that the breast is supple and she can latch easier. I have also seen some circles that you can put in the fridge and then put in your bra that are supposed to be great, but I haven't tried them.
I also had major difficulties and all they wanted to do was give me narcotics and tell me to stop breastfeeding. I didn't listen to them. I weaned myself off the narcotics (mainly to spite them) and just suffered through it, until I FINALLY got help, and then it was a bit late to stop the damage that was already done. You are not alone and if you need anything, feel free to contact me.
I agree with your other noter... when my baby was 6 weeks I had a yeast infection and it made my nipples so sore! As soon as it went away (took diflucan) I felt much better :) Good luck!
I have a 6 week old and when I had horrible pain breastfeeding the root of the problem was that we developed some bad feeding habits with incorrect latching. I went back to the basics and it help tremendously...make sure your baby has a wide open mouth when latching on. For the crying and thrush I would recommend you contact Dr. Chalmers in Frisco, TX at ###-###-####...he is a Chiropractor and Neurologist that practices alternative medicine that is more natural. His website is http://chalmerswellness.com/. He helped me control my baby's colic and acid reflux....so it's worth a try to see what he suggests!!!
