My now 22mo old has developed a habit, everytime he goes poo, he has to dig it out and show it to you, play with it etc... He does this right after he poos, before I can even change him. HOW CAN I MAKE IT STOP!! The only solution I have so far, is putting him in one piece outfits, that way he can't get his hand down there! It's aggravating, he does it when he knows I'm not watching him, like when doing dishes, he goes off and digs... I've not completely started potty training, we try every night before a bath, that's about it so far. I don't remember my oldest ever doing this, and it's just annoying and gross! Any suggestions?
Best thing to do is keep him in a onsie if possible, if that wont work, try getting the pj's with a zipper and without feet him them and put them on backwards, he wont be able to get in the diaper. If he isnt taking his clothes off then have him wear a onsies with pants.

Some are just diggers! I don't know why but it sure is disgusting! The one piece outfits are pretty much the only thing that works I think. Good Luck

My 19 mo old son does the same thing. The only thing I've been able to do is put a onsie on under his clothes. Sorry this isn't much help, but your not alone, and lets just hope it's a phase!

I also wrote in about my 22 month old grandson. I babysit
him everyday and he does this also. When he is going down
for a nap he will constantly take his diaper off. Sometimes
it is poop and he will play in it. I go in at least three
times to put his diaper back on. Or as you said he will
strip down and do it while he is playing or go in a corner
and do it. His older brother (4) yells Nana he is taking his
diaper off. Anyway the last few days I have been taping all
around the diaper with masking tape. Whe I ask the doctor she
told me to use duct tape(I don't have any right now) and wrap
it around the diaper so he can't find the end. The masking
tape seems to have worked we haven't had an issue for two days! The one piece outfits don't work, he just unsnaps them
and goes on with whatever! I have tried putting the diaper on
backwards, onesies, one piece outfits and none of it worked!
But I think the duct tape will do the trick!! Good Luck!!

Sounds to me he's indicating he's ready to start potty training. If he generally goes at a certain time (my girls both go right after they get up or right after breakfast), you could just set him on the potty, you'd be there and could wisk the poo away right away.
