Son's Turning 21 - Any Ideas on How to Celebrate?

My terrific son is turning 21 this coming Sunday. My husband and I really want him to have a memorable birthday, but we don't have much money. We can spare about $100 max. Do any of you talented "event-planning" moms have any ideas? I have only one, really, and that is Dave & Busters eat & play deal...$15.99/person gets you a meal (from a select menu that doesn't look too bad) and $10 in tokens to play games. He can order his first alcoholic drink (legally) there also. I know there has GOT to be something better than this out there! He's not into gambling (Thank you, God!) so he won't want to do anything like that. His interests: He is a big history buff, especially world history, and weaponry, likes Superman stuff, he runs, works out, he's really handsome, but is pretty close to one girlfried that he has had for 3 years. Loves nature, wants to work at Yellowstone National Park. Any ideas you can give me would be greatly appreciated. He is a very good son and deserves so much more than we can give him. ~N.

Congrats to your son. Something fun might be a progressive dinner at some of his fav restaurants. First stop appetizers and drink, then next stop the meal, then next stop dessert, and the final stop home or

Another fun thing might be to go to a comedy club...we took my daughter and her boyfriend there and we all had a blast. They have drinks... Try Ad libs not too expensive or some of the other comedy Improv or Commedy Coner I think it is in Arlington. HAVE FUN! You could do a nice dinner at home and then go to the comedy club for a drink and laughter!

i would just take him to a nice dinner at one of his favorite places. you can order drinks most anywhere & i think a nice pleasant dinner with mom & dad is way better than dave & busters.

Splitsville in Arlington would be fun too. Bowling, eating, dancing and a drink or two would be fun there.

If you can swing it, there's a place in Canton, TX (about an hour away from DFW) called Wired. Its a zipline course. http://www.ziptheusa.com/index.html Maybe you could get him and his girlfriend some passes to go and then have a dinner at home. HTH

Might ask him if there is anything special he wants to do. I know when I turned 21 I didn't care about going out with my parents, but wanted to go out drinking with my friends.
