It sounds perfect...people come to celebrate and snack. I wouldn't add a ton of processed junk food just so people can eat more.
Hey Mommas,
We are having a small party for our sons first birthday at our new house and are just planning snacks. Here is the menu I have been playing around with, let me know what you think. The party will be at 3:30 in the afternoon. We will be having mostly adults but will have 3-4 kids in attendance. Oh and does anyone have a good fruit dip recipe?
Dips:
Salsa
Queso
Corn Dip
Ranch
Fruit Dip
Melon Balls
Other Seasonal Fruit
Veggies
Tortilla Chips
Drinks
and last but not least cupcakes
Added: This is just snacks not a full meal. We are going out with Family for dinner after the party.

1 (12 oz.) container whipped topping, thawed
1 sm. jar marshmallow crème
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
2 sm. cartons strawberry yogurt
Mix ingredients together and refrigerate until ready to serve. Good with apples, strawberries, grapes, pineapple. Other yogurt flavors can be substituted in place of strawberry.
This stuff is heavenly! Have fun!
This all sounds fine for the ladies, but I agree that I would add something a bit more that would appeal to the guys and kids.
Maybe order some pizzas or hot dogs/suasages? Maybe some barbeque?
Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut have any size any toppings for $10.
Oh and ICE CREAM!! I always get the little individual cups for the kids.
What about the kids? How about chips, or fruit roll ups for them.......? Fish Crackers.....
Honestly, sounds like you are going to have fun.....enjoy and talk care.......OH, for the cupcakes, you could bake them in ice cream cones, they are great for the kids to eat without making to much of a mess..........
I like to make pretzels with a little kick.
2 bags pretzel twists (small kind)
1/3 c vegetable oil
1 1/2 packets Ranch dressing mix
2 tsp dill weed
Whisk the oil, powder, and dill then add to the pretzels and give them a toss until well coated. Spread out on a cookie sheet and bake at 325 for 1 hour stirring through them every 15 minutes. THEY ARE ADDICTING!!!
Little meatballs or cocktail wheenies are good too. You can slow cooker them and they stay warm and tasty. I use:
2 pkgs Lil' Smokies
1/2 jar grape jelly
1 jar shrimp cocktail sauce
Cook on high for 30 min - 1 hour first stirring occassionally and then turn low to sit during the party. I have also done 1/2 c. mustard and 1/2 c BBQ sauce instead of shrimp cocktail sauce before too and it turned out pretty good.
The fruit dip I use is sour cream, concentrated orange juice (straight from the can frozen, a few tablespoons to a smaller container of sour cream) and brown sugar. Just add a bit at a time til it tastes like you want.. The conbination is not to sweet but sweet enough with a little tang. I also use the oyster crackers instead of the pretzels like the previous suggestion.
I would add something like Pigs in a Blanket, bacon-wrapped asparagus, deviled eggs, meatballs in a crockpot, finger sandwiches, etc. Something a little more substantial w/ protein. Have fun!
I think your menu sounds good! I just wanna add that I have had those pretzels Nicole O talked about and they are amazing!
