I would take him to the doctor and have it checked. The longer you wait and if it is healing over the wrong way, the harder it will be to fix. Did he have it done at birth? I had 3 boys and theirs were dome at birth and they were healed long before 5 1/2 months old.

My son's healed funny in my opinion, but I have taken him to 3 different pediatricians, they all agree that he just has a scar tissue bump on one side. It doesn't cause him any pain and it doesn't affect his urination, so they have all said that there is nothing that can be done, he will just have a lump of scar tissue :(

Hi J.,

When a baby is circumcised, vaseline is applied around the area to keep the area lubricated. If you have concerns, call your surgeon. Don't worry, things do look alot strange when healing.

Good luck. D.

Ask your pediatrician and if you are still concerned ask to see a urologist.

Good luck!

My son had to have his partially redone because it healed "the wrong way" too. His peditrician referred him to a urologist to get it "redone". Best of luck :)

Hi J.,
This happened to my son too, and when I took him back to the doctors they told me I should have came sooner.. so go now!... but everything was fine, they had to do surgery on him and put him under (very scary considering they couldnt find anyone who wanted to put a baby under) but all went well... all the best!!!

My son was circumcised when he was a day old. When my son went to the doctor for his one or two week check up, the doctor talked to me about taking care of his circumsion. He said NOT to pull the skin back while it was still healing. He said that this sometimes causes more problems than just leaving it alone. If it's still healing, continue to put plenty of vasiline on it and don't mess with it too much. If you're still concerned after this, call your ped.

Is the skin sticking? My son had skin adhesions, and we had to gently separate the skin and then use tons of ointment to keep it separate until completely healed. If your son has adhesions, I recommend (after talking to your pediatrician) trying to separate the skin following a long warm bath. Just do a little every day and use a ton of ointment. Every time you change his diaper, recheck the area and slather on more ointment. He'll complain, but it really does all work out in the end. Good luck!

If you think that your son's circumcision is not healing well then make an appointment with his pediatrician. The pediatrician will eas your mind, one way or another. That way he can have surgery if he needs it. Then you will eas your mind. Hope this helps. Good luck.
