I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a 2nd birthday for a little boy. His birthday is in July. Something indoors. Thanks

What can I do next?

Have you thought about the Childrens museum in Everett? My almost 2 year old had a blast there when we went, and they have party rooms and everything. They have fun stuff to do. I wouldn't worry too much about doing anything big. Two year olds still don't remember much, and I think it could be more for the parents and friends than for the child. I had 10 kids together, we had music, cake, and games. It was inside; I teach English (I actually live in Hungary, but am from Everett)-- and we had an English class/play group that day; so half the kids I had never met. But it was still fun!

Chances are he won't remember it too well.. but you can do something special.. take pictures to help create memories. Why not invite just a few of his special friends to a local McDonald's or something similar and let them play in the play area. Or just have a few of his friends over to the house for cake and ice cream. You don't have to do anything elaborate - it is more the gesture to do something.. take pictures and make a special scrapbook of that special time for him to look at when he is older. I've done the "BIG" parties for toddlers before.. but they dont' remember them.. so I have cut way back on what I do for them when they were little.

Oh... if he has friends around the same age.. here is an idea. When my daughter was turning one.. a friend whose son was one month older... and had friends whose babies were also turning one right around the same time... had a party but asked that we each bring a gift in a certain age range and instead of her son getting a ton of presents each child got a present.. she assigned each present a number and each child drew a number (well.. the parent did). It was a great idea.

An indoor pool party at your local pool is a great idea

My son's 2nd b-day is in April and we planned a party at Cougar Mountain Zoo in Issaquah. It is $98 for 10 people with zoo passes and one hour guided tour and petting/ feeding of unique wildlife.

We did our twins 2nd birthday at Kelsey Creek Farms in Bellevue. Barns, animals to pet and feed, a cute party room and a farm craft that involved carding wool and making a little sheep. Perfect for the age.

Hi K.,
With my kids birthdays I always tried to go off of what they were into at that time or age. It helps with what to do, makes it personal and also creates memories with looking back on the birthday pictures. For instance my year old daughter I had forgotten how into Scooby Doo she was until we pulled out her 7 year old b-day pictures.
You can also do a summer theme since its in July. I once got blow up beach balls and wrote the invitatin on those(not blown up yet) with a permanent marker. Eveyone loved it. Good Luck, C.

I have a Son's birthday in July as well and he really liked having a swimming party at the aquatic center here in Dallas. It will not cost that much, and the guests that stayed and swam payed for there own swim time. For my other Son's birthday that is in October, we have it at the pizza parlor and we are in doors and warm. I hope some of these ideas help...good luck!
