Something More Annoying than Ear Roaches

I find ear roaches annoying. You know those blue tooth things that make everyone look like they are talking to themselves.

I am walking into Macys today and here is this woman walking in with her phone on speaker, talking like they do on Celebrity Apprentice. Um, we don't even want to hear one end of your conversation let alone both sides.

I think she thought she was cool, personally I vote for pathetic.

Has anyone else seen someone do this in public?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I used to work at Breadco (Panera to the rest of the country) and after the third or fourth person expected me to figure out who they were talking to I started saying, oh no, don't worry, I will wait till you are done talking to your friend. Then I would just stare at them. They usually got off real quick or put the person on hold and pulled the roach out of their ear. I can't even imagine how I would deal with speaker phone. I would probably just join the conversation until they started avoiding my line or we became great friends. :p

Mommy B that was exactly what she was doing, that holding the phone in front of the face. It really took everything in my power not to tell her how stupid she looked. :(

Riley I only use blue tooth in my car so I have a receiver that clips to my visor. Other than the perk I can't accidentally walk around talking to myself I can voice text in my car. :)

I HATE it when I think they are talking to me, and I say something. They usually act all irritated by me, because how dare I interrupt.

Oh, all the time. What is worse is when you see someone having a loud, animated conversation and you assume they are talking on a blue tooth and they are really just talking to themselves. Yikes!

Oh yeah!! here in DC it's famous!!! Because they are most likely talking to someone in a political office...I know So-and-So...like I care? Like I'm going to be impressed? Give me a break!!

What gets me - and I know I shouldn't laugh - but the people who are texting and walking at the same time who walk into a pole or a hole!! THAT just gets me!!!

Let's get together and follow the people who do this and start a loud conversation?!?!?! Wanna?!?!?! We can be just as immature as they are!!! LOL!!!

Until then... on my xmas list is the Seal-team-type that goes around your neck. I figure (since I've lost several already), that I won't be able to lose something that is literally strapped. to. my. neck. :)

As you may be able to tell... I love, love, love Bluetooth Tech. It's PEOPLE who are rude and ridiculous.

Hehehe... Have you seen the Mayhem (allstate commercial) with the cell phone talker?

As someone who talks to themselves, and inanimate objects, and gravity, and the powers that be...ALL THE TIME... (I caveat this because someone got tiffed with me once about 'making fun of people who talk to themselves') Bluetooth has ALSO provided me with one of my 2 favorite people watching games : "Crazy or Cellphone"

Love. It.

Ah, weeellll....I THOUGHT blue tooth ear pieces were THE most annoying thing until I SAID so to The Man who seemed to have had his surgically attached. But THEN he ditched the blue tooth for EAR BUDS (maybe he thought I'd like that better?) and I was proven wrong, sigh.

Yes, and I always do a double-take just to make sure they're not a crazy person loose on the street. Usually they are way too loud, very demonstrative...hands and arms waving, and sharing just way too much information, ranging from private client information to what they did with Joey (in full detail!) last night. :P

It's especially scary when you're on the freeway and see some guy driving over the speed limit with his hands full with a hoagie and a map, using their knee to steer, while seeming to be talking to himself on his ear-phone. Kinda missing the whole point of using one of those things, huh? I almost got run off the road by someone just like that a couple of days ago.

Yikes!

I hate those blue tooth things. OBNOXIOUS. ...and I KNOW those people just LOVE it when they trick people near them into thinking that they are talking to them when, in fact they are just on the phone. LOL.

I totally second what Cheryl said:)

Also, I have seen people using cellphones as walkie-talkies... and I don't mean on speaker phone, but when they hold the phone in front of their face and talk into the phone as if it were a walkie-talkie. Now, I'm sure there are some moms on here that do that... because I've seen a LOT of people do it. It looks completely ridiculous, FYI. LOL:) :)

What bugs me most about about it is the people wearing them (except while driving or maybe working around home). It seems like 99% of the time the person has some desperate need to make themselves seem important.

Omg, yes, it's incredibly annoying. I HATE hearing people's phone conversations in public. But I think it's even funnier when people wear the ear-buds and are NOT in a conversation, because they seem to walk a little taller, touching it every so often to make sure it's still there, as if they're still cooler than the rest of us. I always want to tell those guys they have a giant junebug on their ear and slap the side of their heads. ::thunk::

I first read your title and couldn't figure what the heck are ear roaches. ha ha
My hubby uses his all the time (he works from home) and it makes me nuts. I will start to say something and not realize he is on the phone. He only uses it out if he has an important conference call (it is extremely rare that he leaves the house while working) and he stays in the car.
I can't stand those things except for driving. I don't usually want to hear anyone conversations either.

Omg I read ear roaches and thought something totally different. ROFL then immediately thought bedbugs in some random word association firing off in my brain. I know you didn't plan it - but thanks for the laugh.

Oh, and I hate it when people wear those things - I always think they are talking to me until I realize that I don't know them and don't have a clue what they are talking about.

Mostly, I'm with Riley. It's pretty funny to watch.

A few years ago when we started our Netflix subscription and I FINALLY got to watch The Office, I realized how many weird and watchably amusing people populated my world (and yes, I expect that I'm one of them). I suddenly got it that I was watching real-time sitcoms, sometimes-but-not-always assisted by modern technology, every time I went out in public. Boy, has that made my life more fun. I just groove on it (to use an archaic term that was popular in my youth).

And it is still annoying when I'm behind someone in a line, waiting for my turn for service, and the person getting assisted by the nice clerk is just too busy with another conversation to help the transaction along. I have noticed a few signs at such lines lately with variations on "The clerk will not help you if you are on the phone. Please step aside and let the next customer pass you."

Hooray!

What did these people do before cell phones. Geez. I really dont talk or text that much. I dont get it. Who really needs to be on the phone unless it is for work. My husbands paycheck depends on not missing a call. But you know what, he is very seldom on his phone. Most of these people are just talking. STUPID. Most of the time when I see the people with those things, they dont look like they can even afford a cell phone. Do they think they look cool. UH, they dont.

I have always hated public cell phone use. I get that you need to sometimes call your significant other if, say, you're in the grocery store and need to ask if they need something. I say, if you're in public and you need to make a phone call, get out of people's way. Go off to the side and discreetly make your call. I hate the people that talk on their cell phone while in line at stores/restaurants/gas stations and the people that just walk around talking loudly into their phones/blue tooth/speakerphone. I have always thought that people like that just think they are all-important. Because have you ever noticed how the people tend to walk that are stuck to their phones? It's kind of an arrogant little strut. Annoying. The WORST is when they are up to a cash register and they're still on the phone. Don't bother to get off and when talking to the cashier, they kinda whisper like they don't want to disturb the person they're talking to. Don't mind the fact that you're disturbing all of the people in line and most of all the cashier with your rude, self-absorbed behavior.

I try to only use my Bluetooth while driving, other times though I have to simply because my hands are full with my 2 yo. Sometimes it's unavoidable. I agree that it can be annoying but it does come in handy.
