As long as your son is directing his food choices, it is fine. He will eat what he needs and he will nurse when he needs.
Also, as your baby is older now, he is likely far more efficient at getting milk from the breast in a relatively short period of time.
For me, I sent my daughter to daycare with bottles of EBM. The bottles started coming back home and she started waiting out the day to nurse because she had a bigger stomach and could. By 9 months, I was sending one 4oz bottle in with her.
Let your son eat what he wants. According my ped, by 9 months he should be eating with the family from table foods. So, 3 meals by 9 months.
