Solid Food Ideas for 10 Month Old

My 10 month old daughter is NOT a very good eater and I'm looking for suggestions for new solids to offer her. The only thing she will actually pick up and eat herself is a teething biscuit! She likes yogart, pureed fruit and pureed meat (all hand fed to her) I'd like to get her on to more actual food and less baby food but not sure what she can and can't eat at this point. Any ideas?

My 10 mo old has the opposite problem--she ONLY wants to feed herself, and has no patience at all for being spoon fed, so we've had to branch out a bit to try to get her a balanced diet on things she can eat by herself. Some of our standards are:
Annie's shells and white cheddar.(her FAVORITE. she CHOWS on this!)
peas
steamed diced carrots
potatoes--regular and sweet
sticky rice (so she can eat it with her hands)
diced firm or extra-firm tofu
cheese
bananas
mangoes
avocados
toast, biscuits, bagels, etc.
cheerios (obviously)
canned peaches and pears (packed in juice, not syrup!)

You might also want to try offering her more sophisticated tastes that you might not expect a baby to eat. I used to nanny for a little boy who was fussy fussy fussy when we tried to give him "kid food," but at age 2 1/2 I once had to physically restrain him from climbing onto a restaurant table to go after the sundried tomato and olive tapanade with a spoon! My daughter, similarly, will eat the plain tofu when we feed it to her, but LOVES it when we marinade it in wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic for 2 days, then throw it on the grill!

Whatever you try, I always test it first by trying to eat it myself without using my teeth, only mushing the food on the roof of my mouth with my tongue, to see whether my little four-toothed angel will be able to gum it to death!

Here's a few ideas...

avacados
macaroni and cheese (chopped up)
potatoes - mashed, baked, sweet - maybe even chopped up tator tots or french fries?
tuna
scrambled or hard boiled eggs
applesauce
bananas
pasta (chopped up spaghetti, spirals or macaroni)
spinach (chopped up fine)
carrots
squash
blueberries
raisins (mine love the yogurt-covered ones - they travel well, too!)
tomatoes
broccoli (cut up)

I think it's important to try different textures to see what she's comfortable with. My first daughter wanted to be spoon fed soft foods. My second daughter likes to feed herself foods that she can grab a handful of. Each baby is different.

Also try doing some searches on the Internet for "toddler foods" and see what you find!

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Avocados, tofu, scrambled eggs made with egg substitues, cheerios or other puff cereal, whole wheat noodles with tomato sauce or tossed in some butter..these are just some soft finger foods that come to mind...

My son was this way! He HATED touching anything (including his firstbirthday cake that he touched with 1 finger and cried! LOL)

Just start putting textures on her tray while you feed her and try to encourage her to eat it. She will get there soon!

There is a fabulous new snack that I found...You can get it at marketstreet & target...it's called Frootie Booty (rice puffs with fruit flavor), they have Veggie Booty, and Pirates Booty. It's healthy & they can pick it up easily. We also fed the boys cubed steamed carrots & diced potatos at that age & they loved them!
