I went to see the doctor and she place her hand on my son's head. She stated for me to take my son to neurology. she stated my son soft stop close. it might have been sometime in Dec. Could this cause him any damage to the brain. he is doing everything a 7th month baby should do.

What can I do next?

Yes, it can cause damage. If the soft spot closes too early, the brain does not have room and the skull can not grow properly. The baby has a soft spot in the front and in the back to allow room for skull and brain growth.

Your son will need to see a neurological surgeon as soon as possible to determine what will be the best course of treatment to correct this.

But rest assured that many children do thru this and do just fine! I had a little boy in my moms group that he needed the same type of surgery at about 6 months old and you would have never been able to tell if the mom didn't tell you!

Do you mean his soft spot? If your dr suggests him seeing a Neuro then I would take him or get a second opinion from another Pediatrician.

Try not to worry, but this could be very serious... if his soft stop has closed then he'll have to have surgery... his brain is still growing and if it doesn't have any room to grow then it will cause lots of problems.
Praying for your son and family!

The soft spot on my nephew's head closed & my sis was told to take him to the neurologist. She was nervous just as you are but they said everything was normal & that was the end of that. So just take him to make sure he's fine. I forget why but the soft spot is the area between the skull bones & its not suppose to close until the babies are a certain age. Just make sure he's okay. Good luck!
