Either take it back of cover it up with a throw cover.
Wool makes me itch no matter how it's been processed so no amount of washing would fix that problem for me.
I purchased a modern sofa and the fabric is wool/cashmere blend: any suggestions on how to hand wash, or hand scrub the sofa, so it is not so itchee?

I'd go back to the store and tell them you are miserable with the product, can't sit on the sofa, etc. Either they will recommend something you can use without damaging the fabric, or they will swap the sofa out for you. A lot of synthetic fabrics bother people too (more breathing than itching) and there are toxic chemicals in some of the foam stuffings used. It may not be the fabric itself - they may have treated it with a stain protector product and maybe that's it. A good store will want you to be happy. Maybe they will have to go back to the manufacturer of the sofa to get better info but they should want to help you.
Welcome to mamapdedia!!
What's the warranty on your purchase? If it's within the "guarantee" period - I would call them and tell them that you are having problems with the material and need to exchange it for a microfiber or some other type of material.
If they say - sorry!! I would buy a slip cover for it and lesson learned about purchasing a wool fabric sofa.
Good luck!
Put a nice soft throw down where you sit.
I hope you are not allergic to wool. I know I am.
Return if you can or cover it.
Sounds like you might be allergic to wool. Put a snugly throw over the back and sit on that.
Ooooh, I'm getting itchy just THINKING about a wool/cashmere blend sofa. I'm very sensitive to wool (can't wear wool sweaters, etc, they are WAAY too itchy!), maybe even allergic. I have wool rugs and I'm very careful not to sit on them with bare skin. Is it possible you also have a wool allergy or sensitivity? I'd look into returning or exchanging the sofa, like others have suggested. I can't think of anything that would make a sofa like that not itchy...
