Soccer Practice / Options During Winter Break

My 6 yr old dd played soccer this season (first time.) Nice team - but very talented and all had played several seasons. She has really enjoyed this season - and wants to play again in the spring - but are there "winter" practice options or leagues (I suppose indoors due to weather?) We play at home w/ her to practice but I'm wondering if there is more I can find for her. Wouldn't have worried about it - but at church yesterday, heard dd praying: please help me play better, please help me play better. (Amazing how early kiddos start these sports - which is neat - that's just not how early she started - and she is eager to learn more.)

Will ask our coaches too - but woke up early this morning - and thought of posting a note here as well. :-)

TIA for any suggestions. We live in Coppell - so coppell, lewisville, flower mound, grapevine area.

What can I do next?

You might also check at Everybody Fits in Coppell. I think they have some soccer classes associated with their Play for Sport - Sports Skills. I don't have any experience with that part of the facility (my daughter takes gymnastics) but it might be worth a phone call to see if they have a trial class available.

Soccer Tots is a great way to help with the skills needed to get your child ready for soccer or to beef up their skills and confidence. Here's a link to get you going with finding one in your area. We started our 4 year old at 3 1/2 and he can't wait to start again! http://www.soccertots.net/locations/info.asp?id=79

Blue sky and Fieldhouse both have indoor leagues. Contact today because I think signup is almost over. Just google for their phone numbers.

Most of the indoor soccer facilities have winter leagues.

Check with Stampede in Southlake or Blue Sky in Keller.

Good Luck!

I would look into Soccer Tots- they offer classes in nearly every city and play indoors. We did a free trial class before we had to pay for anything and it was a lot of fun!

Have you considered doing Upwards soccer in the spring instead of city league? Upwards is held at churches, it is less competative, focuses on the fundamentals, having fun, balanced teams, etc. The kids go through an evaluation before the season starts so they can distribute kids on teams based on ability so the theams aren't weighted with one being really good and one being bad. It does happen, but they try to alleviate that. It is a christian environment, the kids learn scripture in a fun way, the kids are usually very sweet, it is cheaper than city league, usually has a more predictable schedule and they learn the fundamentals and improve skills. You can google Upwards, put in your zip, etc. I know there are a couple of places in Lewisville. My kids participate in Upwards cheerleading, basketball, and soccer through our church in Corinth.
