Get a blood panel. I discover this week that my vitamin d is low- this explains my constant colds, depression and general overall exhaustion. I thought it was just because I'm 42 with a toddler :-)
I'm wondering if menopause and all the "stuff" that goes along with that cause you to feel exhausted. It's Friday evening and I'm thrilled, because I have fun plans you ask? No, because I can SLEEP. Any ideas of how to chase this away?

OMG This is almost an exact duplicate of what I posted a week ago!! I went to see the doc and have thyroid and other blood levels checked. I needed a good multi-vitamin and to have some meds changed. It hasn't been a cure all by any stretch. I am still not running at full speed. But, I think its getting better. Yeah, menopause can do this - go see your doctor and ask for your blood to be checked...... Good Luck!

Menopause alone may not be the whole problem, if it's the problem at all. I would see your doctor. Have them run a full blood panel, including Vitamin D which they don't always add.
Menopause can bring with it insomnia and trouble sleeping which can then leave you exhausted. It can also throw off things that could be leading to you feeling exhausted.
In the 2 years leading up to me finally being over a year period free now I was a mess. My thyroid went out of whack and my Vitamin D levels were non-existent (normal is 30-80, mine was 6.14). I had the worst insomnia and when I did sleep it was terrible. Last time it was checked my thyroid had corrected itself but I've been on a once a week high dose prescription Vitamin D along with an additional over the counter dose I can take daily as needed. 3 months for the first dose with a blood test at the end found I still wasn't at normal. Second round, still not at normal, though steadily climbing each time. I'm on my third 3 month round and I'll do another blood test at the end of this round to see where I am at. My doctor has me go 2 weeks off the Vitamin D before coming in to have the blood drawn. I am also no longer going through the ups and downs of hormones of going into menopause. All of these things have helped immensely.
I also make sure to get enough sleep. If you have to be up at 6AM, don't think you can stay up until midnight or later. 6 hours (or less) of sleep absolutely is not enough on a regular basis to stay healthy and to not feel completely exhausted all the time. Your body needs a proper amount of sleep in order to heal itself and to fight off illness. If I need time for something when the kids aren't awake I find it better to get up earlier, before they are awake, then to try to stay up later after a full and busy day. I will sometimes go to bed earlier if I can to make it a little better.
Menopause can mess with you.
Have your thyroid levels checked out.
I'm hypothyroid and if I run out of my medication I totally run in s-l-o-w motion and I'm totally exhausted.
B vitamin or D vitamin deficiency or too much iron can also make you tired.
Do you snore or have sleep apnea?
If you're not sleeping as deeply as you think you are, that might be another reason you are exhausted.
See your doctor and get checked out.
I am 46 and I am pretty sure my exhaustion has to do with getting up at 4:30 and going to bed at 10:00.
Still as soon as my husband gets done cussing out his work machine and getting a system back online we will be going out for the evening.
What I mean is tired is at least 50% mental. Just like when you get up and you don't want to you have to push yourself out there and once you are out you have fun and don't feel tired.
Oh my, I am never getting dinner, I hate his work machine!
Definetly check thyroid levels, also electrolytes. I've noticed a huge difference in energy by taking Spirulina daily.

You need to see your doctor....you need to have blood tests done to see if you are anemic, have thyroid problems or some other problems - low on vitamin B? Vitamin D???
The only way to chase this away is to go to your doctor and find out what's causing it...is it possible you have sleep apnea?? People who have sleep apena are tired too...lack of GOOD sleep will do that to you!!

It's not necessarily in your mind.
•how much sleep do you get each night?
•is your job mentally exhausting?
•could you have sleep apnea?
•do you drink a lot if caffiene?
You really need to look at things like that AND discuss with your doc.
At 46, I didn't feel that exhausted.
At 51, in menopause, I don't feel exhausted.
But people are not all the same.
At 51, I'm up at 6 and awake til about midnight.
Recently, I had the opportunity to go to sleep at 9:30 and you know what? I didn't feel like I had "too much sleep."
Just because I CAN function well on 6 hours of sleep doesn't mean I SHOULD, I guess. Lots if people are running in unrealistic sleep amounts.
Try the simplest thing first: get more sleep!
You could also have built up an intolerance to wheat or dairy. That can make you tire easily.
Hi M., I remember that world well. I was tired all the time. Then a really great friend of mine, Paulette, had a very serious conversation with me about what I was eating. No, she isn't a doctor, or a nutritionist or a dietitian, she is simply a mom, just like me, who felt a lot like I did a few months before. We talked and I noticed how much was lacking in my own diet. Thank goodness she loved me enough to stick with me and help guide me through a healthy eating transition. I was so excited about it, I started doing it too!
She asked me the following questions:
what do I have for breakfast every day.
did I eat at least 3 meals a day
how many fruits and veggies was I eating
did I do at least 15 minutes of moderate exercise every day
and so on...
I realized that I had really stopped taking care of myself...so she helped get me on track.
I am so grateful she showed me a better way.
And since then I have been able to share with many of my friends.
M., take a serious look at what you are eating, it will change your life.
Yes it can, but have your thyroid tested.
