My doctor called me in difflucan, it worked good, was gone in a day or two. I hate messing with nasty monistat.
I have a yeast infection. I have tried for two days to cure it with cream and yogurt. Anything I can do that can cure it instantly? My husband and I are going away for the weekend and we are TTC. Sorry for too much info, I just need some help please! Thanks in advance!

Call the dr. and ask for a diflucon pill. It attacks it from the inside & is a single dose treatment.
Sorry, you need to get over the counter monistat. Call your obgyn, maybe they can give your difflucan- for the infection. I would wait to try and concieve---you want the experience to be favorable and comfortable. Sex with a yeast infection---hurts! I would wait til you are completely better--also, you could give the infection to your hubby and then pass it back and forth-no fun. So get your situation figured out before going through with ttc. Best wishes!

Diflucan! You will feel much better in 24 hours and all better in 2-3 days. Best yet if you can get them to prescribe two pills, one for today and one for 2-3 days from now just in case it isn't completely better.
I can't use any of the OTC treatments because of adverse reactions, but have taken Diflucan many times.
If you are having sex with your husband during the time you have had this infection you need to get him treated as well. He may not show signs of it but he can pass it back to you once you get rid of it. Many people don't think of that because the husband generally has no symptoms. Nothing worse than thinking you are in the clear only to find out you got it again.
Call your md and ask to be prescribed diflucan.. it is one tab and i swear you will feel so much better the next day!
Call your OB/GYN for an Rx for diflucan.
Just about the yogurt:
While the L. acidophilus in (some) yogurt CAN help us maintain or regain a bacterial and PH balance in our vagina, it's messy, often doesn't contain live cultures (the container will tell you if it does) and has a much lower concentration of Lactobacillus acidophilus than do supplements. Not to mention all the extra "junk" that is in yogurt that simply does not help balance and will, in fact, exacerbate a Candida "explosion" (lactose for example) if used as a douche.
I have had great success with using L. acidophilus liquid suppliments though. I have treated all yeast infections (three in seven years) with acidophilus.
Take acidopholus instead of yogurt. Yogurt has sugar that feeds the yeast. Also, try MSM from the health food store. You can also wash with both of those things I mentioned (mix with water and pour directly). Good luck!!
You can't cure it instantly but putting some apple cider vinegar in your bath will help sooth and renew the balance naturally. I love it. I used to have chronic infections but now that I do this a couple of times a month I haven't had a problem. Make sure you buy apple cider vinegar with the mother (it's unfiltered and contains the beneficial stuff needed; it was say mother some where on the label.). Fill your bath and pour a couple of cups in and soak as long as you like. Don't worry, you won't smell like vinegar. I'm serious. It's really soothing and it helps great with the kids too (my daughters soak once a month and there water is up to their hips w/ one cup vinegar). It's also perfectly safe if you're pregnant.
You can also use Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). It's a powerful antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, etc. You will find it in your natural food store. It's expensive but a little goes a long way. Just put 15 drops in a small glass of water or juice (I often put it in 100% cranberry (no sugar or cocktails or sometimes grapefruit juice to help mask it) and drink it down. It tastes nasty, I know, but it really works. A friend of mine told me about it after she used it for one (her midwife told her) and hers cleared up in three days. She would also put a few drops on a small tampon and put that in for a couple of hours before removing. Oh, and this works for the guys as well. (Well, not the tampon of course!) My husband once caught it from me and the doc wanted to put him on all sorts of meds. My husband doesn't do well with meds so he decided to try the GSE first and it totally cleared it up in less than a week.
Don't do a lot of douching (that's a mistake a lot of women make and it totally messes the proper balance up) and if you're using scented soaps, stop. Also, how were you using the yogurt? Just topically or internally? I have often put a small amount of totally plain organic yogurt on a tampon and then inserted it several hours. It's very soothing as well. For medication purposes is the only time I use tampons though since I noticed if I used them regularly (as in every day of my cycle every month) then I was prone to more yeast infections so I just stopped using them.
Good luck!
well you can do other things, besides sex.
Play around...
It won't go away in 1 day nor instantly.
And yes, your Hubby can get it too/give it back to you.
I hope eating yogurt (although it won't do anything for yeast infections... they help replenish the beneficial bacteria of the intestines, which are completely different from natural flora in the reproductive system) and not applying it. The sugar in yogurt (lactose, galactose, fructose, and any that are added in addition to occurring naturally) would be feeding the yeast up like crazy/ making it worse. ((My neighbor was applying yogurt, which is why I mention it)). Ditto make sure to avoid ANY kind of sugar in the vaginal area (including baby powder, certain vinegars, and some body washes), and a yeast infection is a good time to do a 2-7 day diabetic diet to reduce the available sugars excreted/ available in your body.
What you're looking for is Monostat1, commonly available in nearly every grocery store/ drug store. Kept in the tampon aisle typically. It won't cure it instantly, but the symptoms (if they aren't extreme) will be gone in 12-24 hours. It continues to work for the next several days. Ideally, insert the ovule at night just before bed so you won't be fighting gravity.
If your symptoms haven't improved in 24 hours, call your doctor, as you may need something stronger.
Don't these things ALWAYS happen right when we have plans? Sheesh.
DO NOT use the 1 day treatment over the counter!!! I've had more than one person come into our office with chemical burns from it. Seriously...bad news. Stick with the 3 or 7 day (I know...no fun if you're TTC) or call your doc and get a RX for Diflucan. (That's what I'd do! A single pill is so much easier and less messy!).
Good luck!
yogurt??? yeast feeds on yogurt.... ask your doctor.. not embarassing nowadays getting yeast infection has been normal due to some reasons. 1. some antibiotics trigger yeast infection, 2. type if underwear used 3. your blood sugar might be high
To respond to another poster - yogurt is highly recommended for yeast infections - better yet, to prevent yeast infections. You just want to make sure it's low in sugar and has acidophilus in it. We take acidophilus supplements anytime we have to be on an antibiotic to prevent yeast infections.
I'm of no help to get you feeling better by the weekend. You should probably call your dr. first thing in the am.
Monistat has a 1 day treatment, but I don't recommend it. The 3 day treatment is usually the best, unless you go to the doctor and get an Rx for Diflucan. Actually, I wanted to point out that yogurt is good for yeast infections, but it has to be plain. Yeast feed on sugar, not yogurt. Try including more in your daily diet. Other than that, I don't know of any instant remedy. Sorry.
agree with previous post that you can buy what you need in the grocery. If you get yeast a lot start eating yogurt daily or get yourself on an excellent probiotic. I have not had one since I began probiotics 3 years ago.
Yes, there is one-day yeast medication at your local pharmacy. It will probably cost you about $18 or so. You can get the 3 day or 7 day version cheaper, but then you will have to wait 3 or 7 days.
Monistat or a generic will work fine.
I totally agree on the diflucan...It's a miracle pill :)
If you haven't seen your doctor, you probably should. Sex with a yeast infection is the WORST!!! I didn't know I had one until I mentioned some minor bleeding at a routine prenatal appointment and they did some cultures, but it turned out to be a bacterial and yeast infection, so I had to have an antibiotic and the over the counter cream. It is usually best to let your doctor figure out what is wrong in that case. I don't know of any 1 day treatments, but remember I was told not to have intercouse for 7 days after starting the OTC one. Sorry for your weekend... :(
.
Call your doc and get a script for Diflucan if you can. I think you only take 1 pill. Also, if you do participate in intimate activities while you go away, know that you can pass it to him and back to you :( Make sure to go to the bathroom after sex and continue to eat yogurt if you choose to make a go of it anyway.
call your md, ask them to call in a rx for diflucan. trust me. no yoghurt helped, but diflucan. good luck
