I know your pain!

Mine only snores when he is on his back or in a really deep sleep, so whenever the snoring starts I nudge him with my leg until he is out of his deep sleep or he rolls over onto his side.

I feel your pain...My husband snores and it is so loud it disrupts everyone!!! I use earplugs and a white noise machine to block it out or at least try to. ugh.

Depends on WHY he's snoring. There are 40 kajillion causes for snoring, some fixable, some surgically fixable, some not.

I snore because of a broken nose. Didn't used to. My son snores because of asthma. My husband only snores when he's dehydrated. My mum snores from weight gain. A friend snored from a deviated septum (my septum's J. fine, I have bits of broken bone constricting the airway). My sister snores due to allergies that make her breathe through her mouth. Another sister snores when she's on her back (tongue falls into the back of her throat). A brother of mine only snores when he's lonely / sleeping alone (hey, we had multiple kids in each bedroom... if he can't hear someone breathing in his sleep, his body creates the sound as a self soothing technique). A girlfriend snores due to an eating disorder that screwed up her larynx and esophagus.

And those are only a few reasons.

Unless you know the reason, there's no way to know the fix, or if one is possible at all.

Physical.. and if that doesn't bring up a glowing neon sign pointing to the cause... sleep study.

my husband uses TWO of those snore strips and that helps somewhat.. Additionally, when he is more on the fit side and isn't overweight, then he snores less.. when he gains weight, that means MORE snoring... fat around the neck , throat area does make a difference..

I saw your so what happened - my boyfriend is not overweight either - BUT he's gained about 10-15lbs in the past 3 months. Now he snores! I know for a fact it's the weight gain :( Like I said, gaining the 10lbs he is still not even close to overweight...but that's gotta be what it is.

If it's that severe, ask him to see a doctor. There are so many reasons for snoring, and many are curable with treatment once the reason is found.

Good luck!

I am almost 9 months pregnant and have been snoring like a freight train for at least a month now. My husband got a small fan for our room that is pretty loud, and cranks it up to high at night to try to drown out the sound with the white noise. Seems to be working OK for now :0)

I don't think all husbands snore.

In any case, there are some mouth pieces out there (I think one is called "Pure Sleep") that help reposition the jaw. This worked fairly well for my husband, although he did get tired of wearing it. I also wore ear plugs.

Mine finally had his deviated septum fixed and a sleep study and found out it was sleep apnea. Now he wears the CPAP machine and as long as its positioned correctly, he doesn't snore at all. HALLELUJIAH!! (he is not overweight, either)

I agree with those who say he should have a physical, and possibly a sleep study. Sleep apnea has serious side effects and can shorten his life! Snoring is not J. an irritation to you!

Has he gained weight lately, or is he really overweight?? Extra weight can cause snoring. There are also might be a medical reason he's snoring. Perhaps, he could get a sleep study done? Does he have allergies? When my husband goes through a period of allergies, he can NOT lay on his back when he sleeps. He has to lay on his side, or he snores all night. Sometimes, breathe right strips help.
