Wedding is next weekend AHHH!! We have a few people staying at our apartment next week (starting wedensday) and they will be there by themselves during the day. Obviously we will all go out/make dinner together but what are some good snacks and lunches to have in the fridge that the guests can have. Just FYI there are no special requests (like vegan or vegatarian) and no food allergies. There will be 2 woman and 3-4 men staying w us

My ideas so far:
- Individual size homemade spinach artichoke dip (my recipe is reknown so ppl will be eating this)
- hummus and pita
- chips and salsa
- pasta salad?

I guess I am more set on snacks so I probably need recipes for lunches.

So What Happened?

Sandwiches! Ugh I feel like my brain is swimming! How silly of me not to think about sandwiches. I'm not thinking they are trying to eat me out of house and home, I just want some food around in case. I hate being a visitor somewhere and feeling like a burden (ie not get offered a drink, food, etc) cause then I think "why the heck did you invite me over here if you can't even offer me something to drink, a simple glass of water would be nice!?" So I just want people to feel comfortable. Thanks for all of your suggestions!

Fresh fruit. Stuff to make sandwiches (let them know what's there, they can help themselves.) Deli containers of potato salad, coleslaw, etc. That should be sufficient. If I was staying at someone's house prior to a wedding I wouldn't expect my hosts to feed me lunch, especially if the hosts are working all day!

My thoughts are the same as Toni's. I wouldn't stay at someone's house and expect them to feed me all day long too.

In addition to what you have, I would just make sure there are sandwich fixings, something to drink and some fresh fruit. If they want anything else, they can go out for it.

Do you have $$ or are you on a budget? Will your "many" house guests be pitching in?

I would have a bunch of deli meats, rolls/bread, sliced cheeses and condiments in the fridge. I would also make a big thing of tortellini salad, tuna salad, egg salad and maybe a container of potato salad to keep in the fridge. Keep a few bags of chips in there as well as a bunch of fruits and go from there.

Just something to keep in mind...
You are getting married. You have a ton of things to do. People are imposing on you (even if you offered) by staying at YOUR home during the week of your wedding. They are adults and can figure out lunch by themselves. Have simple things available, but they can go to the grocery store if needed as well.

What about something simple like sandwiches? A variety of meats and cheeses with what my family calls "fancy" bread (cibatta rolls). We today the roll and use goat cheese and lunch meat.
Also, my spinach/artichoke dip is lacking...would you be willing to share your recipe? Thanks in advance.

I agree with Krista and some of the others - I can't imagine these people would expect you to provide lunch for them when you're working and it's "the wedding week" - it would never even enter my mind if I were the guest - we would go grab some lunch out and actually take our host and hostess out to dinner after their having worked all day or at least fix THEM dinner - but that's just me.

I'm with the others. I'd say to be a good hostess, but you don't need to go out of your way for them. Heck, you're already providing a place to sleep (and shower, and hang out)! But, if your guests are anything like my in-laws... they do expect to be tended to... ugh, I had to stock up on sodas since they're all addicted, and special freezer meals for my nephews (who only eat chicken nuggets & french fries), and tons of snack (chips, cookies, etc) because NONE of them eat healthy stuff!
If they have a car, provide directions to the closest couple of grocery stores/fast food with a simple "I'll be home at 5:30 to cook dinner, fend for yourselves for lunch." :) If they don't have a car, you could have someone take you to work and leave your car with them... Yeah, I have a hard time doing all this for people because I absolutely do NOT expect people to do this for me!
Anyways, good luck with the guest and best wishes for the wedding!

Like others have said, I would not be surprised if they actually plan to go get lunch out. I would try not to go too overboard on spending the time, energy and money on foods that will spoil fast if they do not get consumed by your guests.
Anyway, that being said, I would probably grab a few boxes of crackers, granola bars and chips, just in case. If they don't get eaten, then they will stay good for a while in the pantry and you can use them in lunches. I would probably get some bottled water and maybe a few packs of soda. I might get some fruit like apples, grapes and clementines. String cheese or those Babybel cheeses would be good and easy too. Basically just stuff that you can easily use over the next few weeks if they opt to go out for lunch instead.

Will they have their own transportation? They can got to the store them selves if they can't find what they want in your regular pantry.

How familiar are you with them, are they family? Take them to the store, announce that you're going to pick up a few things and invite them to come along and pick put their own stuff.
