Hi Moms,
This saturday I am responsible for bringing a snack for the kids that play with my son in t-ball. So far the snack has been chips, crackers & Cheese, and lunchables. I wanted to get some ideas from moms out there that have had this experience before. I am new to this and wanted to get the kids something that they would enjoy. please keep in mind that the snack has to be pre-sealed in order to distribute to the kids just as a precaution.

Thanks,

I work at "Extended Day" at the school I teach at. WE have parents bring snacks to share. I think hat it can be relevent here. The children really love Fruit cups, and the Teddy Grahm individual packs. I know they are not that healthy but they are more healthy than some other things.

I would go with fruit snacks or the 100 calorie cookies.

When I was snack mom for baseball, the "norm" in the past was candy bars or chips, and a can of soda. I decided to ask some of the moms before the first game what they would prefer. There were a couple moms that were 100% against junk food...which I had no problem with. But, there were those moms who felt that this was a special treat and very seldom that they were given these sort of "junk" foods. I HAD to meet in the middle somewhere, so I found that there is a huge variety of granola bars, Rice Krispie Treats, or trail mix-type treats that met the task. I added either a Capri Sun or 100% juice box to the treat. I think if the calories and sugar content are watched, you'll be just fine and have happy little t-ballers!

I'd have to agree with pretzel snacks, granola bars, or applesauce as good ones. Snack-sized diced fruit is also a good one - they make some now with a "parfait" that are more like a fruit & pudding dessert - I bet those would go over well. You'd find them in the canned fruit area. You might also consider snack-sized puddings too - you'd just have to remember to bring spoons too is all.

Target has tons of boxes of pre-sealed snacks. My personal favorite is the Ritz Bitz PB crackers!

Good luck!

How about cups of applesauce, apples, the snacksize bags of baby carrots, or they have little prepackaged pretzels that you can dip in cheese (they're like those little packs of crackers with a red little stick and cheeze spread, only with pretzels). If you got the little baggies of carrots then they also sell, in the produce section little individual dips, like ranch dressing... hope this helps!

Follow the lead of what has been done in the past. I read an article in a local parenting paper where some mothers were absolutely appalled that someone would bring 'junk food' for the after-game snack (I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I just figured that the last thing you want to do in a social setting is upset all the soccer-mom types!).

you can always try string cheese, applesauce, or gogurts as a different snack. Also banana's, apples, or oranges. If you go to Sams or Costco, they have many pre sealed snacks to choose from.

GV,

I faced this dilemma recently and thankfully wasn't the first to do it! I opted for the chips and crackers, but another parent chose small portioned bags of apples (from Sam's or Cosco I think). Others bough donuts (yikes!) I really liked the healthy snack idea, so if it's easier for you... I'd recommend it!

Good luck!

They sell fruit chews that are individually packaged. Just check the label that it is made from fruit and there is no added sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc added.
