Daughters cheer team is having a Christmas party for one hour between practices. we were assigned to bring a snack. not too sugary or heavy because the 2nd team will begin practice after the party. I'd like to make something that isn't sweet....got any ideas? I work all day tomorrow though, so it would be nice if it were something I could make tonight and have ready to go for tomorrow

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up making 2 things....
I bought those green spinach/herb wraps, made pinwheel sandwiches with ham/turkey, shredded cheese and cream cheese that I added Good Seasons garlic and herb dressing to. I put the pieces in a triangle shape, like a Christmas tree LOL, and put random olives and grape tomatoes on them....like bulbs!
then I made kabobs of strawberries, green grapes and Christmas shaped marshmallows! LOL

Chex Snack Mix. Or your own snack mix. My favorite to make is a little expensive, but somewhat less unhealthy - goldfish crackers, goldfish pretzels, m&m's, yogurt covered raisins, craisons, any other dried fruit. It is a great combination of sweet and salty with just a hint of nutrition.

Cut up fruit and veggies. Things that will give them the energy to practice.
The kebobs LoveMyLittles suggested are a great idea.

Protein plus carbs and not too salty or they'll have to drink alot of water and feel bloated for the next practice. Mini sandwiches, wraps, deviled eggs, meat and cheese cubes with crackers, granola bars, unsweetened fruit, trail mix.

I would probably make cake pops. Yes, they are sweet but it is small....just a bite or two so the kids don't go overboard.

turkey, salsa and cream cheese pinwheels.

honey mustard breadsticks (just baste some pre-made pillsbury).

home made hot pockets (again pilsbury a slice of sandwich meat, a slice of tomato, a slice of cheese). bake.

bruscetta (toast up sliced italian bread), top with your choice of the following or any combination thereof artichoke hearts, parm cheese, roasted peppers, olived, sundried tomatoes, salami, olive oil, a variety of spices. pulse the toppings in a foodprocessor till a course puree, bake onto bread, or bring with you and smear as you pass them out.

Good luck to you and yours,
