Due to Nut and Gluten Allergys and the policy at school.. the Parents are bieng asked to bring in snacks either:
Fresh Fruit
Fresh Veggies
or
Cheese.

So I was tryhing to come up with dome different things we can do with that.

aside from Just carrots or baby carrots.. plain anything I was trying to think of some fun ways to prepare different foods.
The best I could come up with is.. Merks Cheese (spreadable chees) in Celery for a variance from the usual.

Anyone have any other ideas of what goes good togetther etc?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have some great ideas so far.. We can only send Fresh Fruit, Fresh Veggie and cheese.. School will not allow anything else due to thier allergy policy and with the elimination of Gold Fish and Pretzles.. it only leavese these 3 things for thier snack. I like the poicy, as it keeps the other foods he is not able to consume away, so he does not feel left out.

My hubby makes my lunch every day. He often packs apple slices and cubed sharp cheddar cheese. I love eating them together.

They also have gluten free brownie and cookie mix if you wanted to take something sweet.

My kiddo loves gogurt and the gosqueeze applesauces. Steph H had a great idea with the fruit kabob. I know if I put a pic in any food, my child eats it. :)

good luck!

I would just send a big bag of apples or enough whole banannas for the class and call it good.

Put some raisins on the cheese in the celery and you have ants on a log.

My kids love fruits and veggies, so that makes it very easy for me. You can also do pretzels, graham crackers, my kids like to bring some tuna salad with a few crackers, a tiny sandwich, ham and cheese roll, etc. Can the snack also be fun sometimes? Like once a month send cookies, fruit snacks aren't horible, etc?

This policy really discriminates against those that have dairy intolerance or other issues too. I think they need to cut out all snacks unless the parents sent their own for their own children. This puts a hardship on all families.

Our school doesn't do any sort of snack after they are out of kindergarten and I am so very glad.

I hope you find some good solutions.

Veggies (Bell peppers, cucumbers, grape tomatoes) and Dip (hummus, sour cream mixes, cottage cheese, salad dressing). I also keep packets of salsa and sauces from Arbys and Chikafila he can also use as dip.

There are so many cheeses out there you won't run out with the variety you can find at the deli counter. Applewood, manchego, feta (crumbly), aged swiss...

Try wrapping cheese and/or veggie slices in lettuce or spinach leaves. They make cute snacks.

How about meats? slices of summer sausage, salami, sandwhich meats wrapped in cheese slices...use with dip and that makes for a great snack.
