I'm very newly pregnant (#2) and feeling nauseous. I get so hungry that have to eat NOW but nothing sounds good. The longer I wait the worse I feel. I want to make healthy choices but veggies and ruffage don't sound good and they don't sit well. Any ideas? What were your go to snacks and favorite meals in the early days.

What can I do next?

Stick to healthy carbs, things that digest quickly. Also, follow any cravings you have that are moderately healthy. Small snacks throughout the day also help.

My best friend had a hard time stomaching anything while pregnant, but ginger snaps seemed to be much help.

in the first trimester you just have to survive. Eat whatever sounds good to you and what you can tolerate. For me it was cheetos and starbucks bottled frappacinos. I was able to get back to healthy eating after the nausea went away. Hang in there. It's rough but it won't last forever.

Hi...

I loved celery with peanut butter (still do). It is healthy and the peanut butter helps with nausea. Also, crackers with peanut butter or cheese....

With my first, the only things I could keep down in the mornings in the first 4 months were cinnamon bagels, cream cheese, and iced lattes. I figured, at least I was getting some milk protein and some calcium. At lunch & iIn the evening, I did eat healthier, trying to max up on folic acid, lots of veggies & lean protein.
I agree with someone who said that in the first trimester, you just have to get through, keeping SOMETHING in your tummy is better than nothing. I'd recommend eating whatever you need to to get through the hours of nausea, but then try to balance it out with some super healthy things when you're feeling better.
Try some "super foods" like sweet potatoes (steamed, whipped, baked fries) that have lots of vitamins, fiber & starch). A berry/yogurt smoothy offers a lot of nutrients, plus milk protein & calcium. Eggs have DHA, lots of protein, etc. You can google "pregnancy superfoods" to get some suggestions!

When I was dealing with a queezy tummy, I went with Quaker chewy granola bars. They were only like 90 calories. It gave me the substance in my tummy and then the sweetness/saltiness for any craving if I was even having one. saltines were always a go-to but the granola bar broke up the borning cracker routine. More importantly, CONGRATS!!!!

Congratulations! You know, with baby #1 I had horrible morning sickness, and the only thing that worked (and it didn't always work, I will admit), was to eat Saltine crackers all the time. The emptier my stomach got, the higher the likelihood that I would throw up. The mere thought of veggies made me want to throw up. Same with meat (chicken especially... uggggh!). I could usually keep down oranges or tangerines - do those appeal to you at all? And, really strangely, I liked eating sashimi (raw tuna especially). I know that isn't recommended these days due to mercury content of the fish, but my OB said that whatever I could keep down and felt like eating, just to go with it! So I did. Just remember, whatever nutrition your baby needs, s/he will get from your body, so even if you aren't able to eat anything but Saltines, your baby will not suffer. YOU may have some nutrition to catch up on if/when your appetite returns, but your baby will not suffer. Hang in there, mama!

After 5 pregnancies (i'm also newly pregnant), I have perfected the pregnancy snack. For low grade nausea, eating is one of the only things that will make you feel better. You should always listen to your aversions, but don't always listen to your cravings, anything that spikes your blood sugar will likely make you feel worse in the end (granola, cereals, sweats, juice, bars, protein shakes, crackers, 7-up....). My nausea is very much blood sugar related, but everyone is different. I find I need to eat protein or at least balance my carbs with protein, fiber, or fat to keep my blood sugars even. Also, because I need to snack about 5-6 times a dayto feel better, its best to make your three meals a day much smaller so you don't gain too much. Here are my go to's
1/2 apple and handful of raw almonds
apple with unsweatend peanut butter
small portion of lentil soup (progresso canned works well)
V8- tomato juice
sea weed snacks
a fried egg
cheese and cracker
avocado on toast

For remedies try sipping ice water or hot peppermint tea, and freshly grated ginger in hot water

I gave into my cravings for granola more times than I'd like to admit. It only made me temporarily feel better and in the end the sugar made me feel worse. Its also the reason I failed my one hour glucose test and had to take the three hour!

Congrats to you. I loved jicama and avocado, not together. Those were my go-tos. I eat a salad every single day at work, but during pregnancy, I just was not interested. I ate brown rice with butter and garlic.

For me, it was a few pieces of cheese (muenster) and some triscuit crackers. That was the only thing I could get to stay down in the morning. If I had it to do over again, I would have stopped taking my prenatal vitamins much earlier than I did because I actually think they were causing me to be nauseous. Keeping real food down would have served me better than throwing up what little I was able to eat. Try it for a few days and see how you feel & then ask your doctor if it's OK to stop taking them if you're able to eat a balanced diet.
PS - I love veggies, but I couldn't get anything green passed my lips for the first few months.

I felt so awful with both of mine. One of the few healthy things I could stand was fresh pineapple. I also read where it's supposed to help with queasiness. I don't know if it did, but I could eat it, and there wasn't a whole lot I could stand to get down. I did have to buy the expensive, pre-cut bowls at the store though -if I had to fool with preparing it, I couldn't handle it! Watermelon worked fairly well too. Other than that, it was crackers, bread and bread-like items.

cold green apples! I don't know why they helped with my morning sickness but they were a life saver. I also nibbled on string cheese :o)

I second the egg idea.
I used to drink a slim fast type breakfast drink when I felt like that. It took the edge off, put something in my tummy and then I sould usually feel better and feel like eating some real food!

I'm right there with you! What's working for me is:
Apples (help with heart burn too)
Saltines
Toast with sharp cheddar cheese
Water with a slash of apple juice and a splash of lemon
Pretzels
Dry cereal ( raisin bran is my fave)

Unfortunately veggies don't sound good to me right now either, but sometimes raw carrots are ok. Good luck!

Unfortunately every pregnancy is different and you'll probably have to do a bit of "trial & error" to find what works best for you.

What worked for me was snacking on dry crackers and sipping water throughout the day, plain popcorn was my "alternate". Chamomile tea was also a staple. "Everything in moderation" was my motto. I definitely did a lot better with several small meals than trying to have breakfast, lunch & dinner with snacks in-between!

My mother found that olives helped her with nausea ... in fact she wanted to call me Olivia! When she was pregnant with my brother it was baby carrots all the time ... he was the only one born with red hair and we all said it was due to the carrots! :)

Hang in there, I used to console myself with the fact that often a lot of nausea is due to a lot of pregancy hormones and that's good!
