Smell of a Kitten

Our 8 month old kitten has joined our family about 2 weeks ago. She is precious and sweet and fun. but....she has a stale smell to her. it is only near her neck, head or ears area. It is musky and dull. We have bathed her with this foam bath for cats. It does not help after a few hours. I guess I am a little in denial that this could be her scent .... any thoughts ?
She was adopted by a pet store. She had shots and was fixed . I am assuming she was all checked out and in good health prior to adoption.

What can I do next?

I agree with the ear mites idea or infection... but if the vet doesn't find anything wrong, you might try switching her food. Most female cats (especially that young) don't have a 'smell', so there must be SOMETHING causing it!

I'll be there's some kind of infection or growth in her ears.
Bring her to the vet.

Sounds like an ear infection. I always noticed an odd musky smell if a kitty had an ear infection.

Could it be that she has an ear infection? Has she been scratching her ears or are they dirty and have an ear-wax buildup? I would take a look into her ears maybe this is the cause of the smell. I have owned many cats throughout the years and never have experienced a kitty with a weird odor unless it was some type of infection. Hope this helps!

Could be an ear infection. Those smell on animals just like on people. I'd take her to the vet & have her checked out. Also, most kittens have ear mites. Again, vet to have a look. :)

Have her checked. It doesn't sound like a fur or skin situation.
Ear infections in animals can be really odorous.
Besides that, painful.
Have her ears checked.

Hi. I would get her to the vet about this. There could be a skin condition that he/she could spot. There could be an allergy, including to something in her food or environment. It could also come from something in her ears. Either way, it warrants a check. In rare cases a certain smell could come from something internal, but in this case I betcha it's a skin/ear issue. Enjoy your little one, and may you have many years of love. My beautiful persian lived 19 years!

Sounds like an ear infection, or mites. Look in the ears, if you see a really dark crust it is probably mites and you can get an OTC meds at any pet store or walmart. If it has dark brown or white crust it is probably an infection and she should see a vet.

Don't assume your sweet little kitten was checked out when you bought her from the pet store. You should take the kitty to a reputable vet to get her checked out. I agree with the rest of the mamas, I think she has an ear infection and your vet can tell you for sure.
