Our daycare providers birthday is coming up. I am looking for ideas of a sweet, small, simple, gift. Any ideas would be wonderful.

What can I do next?

How about a care basket such as: Excedrin, massage oil, relaxation music, earplugs, and a migraine patch?

If I had to do daycare, that's what I would like!

I was a daycare provider and often was never thought of at holidays or other special occasions so I commend you for your thoughtfulness and caring. Does he or she collect anything like angels, dogs, cats, etc.? or how about a window sun catcher crystal.

I know my day care provider likes things homemade. She is a big kid person and loves anything the kids make. We generally throw in a bouquet of flowers too :o).

Flowers/plant, Starbucks gift card, book store gift card, a book about praises a of being a teacher, etc., movie gift card, lapel, etc. pin, manicure, pedicure, even a Safeway or Fred Meyer gift card, garden gloves, bulbs to plant in the fall, a package of gourmet coffee/chocolate, a canning jar with ingredients for cookies, etc. in it (find the recipes on the internet). What she probably doesn't need is a coffee mug. I'm beginning my 28th year of teaching and those have been some of my favorites. If you want it to be from your child as well, go to the craft store and have the child pick something out to make for the teacher.
Good luck

Bath & Body Works has great, inexpensive gifts. They even wrap them super cute.

if you can make it to the farmers market...how about a big bouquet of flowers ($5.00) and some fresh veges!! or I have often given my daycare providers gift cards ($5-$10) to subway or for blockbuster to rent a movie. With a nice card, simple/inexpensive gifts.

We made our daycare teacher a pillow that was her favorite color and a handmade card. Not sur eif she "loved" it but it was cheap and easy. We bought the flannel material and stuffing. We cut 2 big circles in the material and a ton of strips to tie to together to keep it together. Good luck!

You can't go wrong with a gift certificate to someplace you know she enjoys. If you don't know of a favorite place go with something that most people like...Subway, pizza, floral place, chocolate shop, etc.

If it's in a traditional day care facility, can you ask the administrator or some of the other teachers what she likes? I always like to give people gifts they will really use. I can't tell you how many times I've received Starbuck's gift cards, and I can't tell you the last time I went to a Starbucks. Generousity is very kind, but I personally prefer to make it as personal as possible.

We usually bake cookies and decorate a picture of the kid who's in her class with a magnetic picture frame (usually a plastic frame for $1.50 at Walmart).

I think a gift certificate and a hand-written note of appreciation are the best things to give her. She doesn't need any more tchotchkes, she might already have tons of little lotions and soaps, and she probably doesn't want yet more baked goods. (I'm a teacher, can you tell?!)

Remember how little she gets paid, and how much of her own money she spends on her job. Give her a gift certificate to a favorite coffee shop or restaurant, to Michael's if she's a crafter, or to a bookstore or Target.

Then write that note. You'd be surprised at how few of those teacher get -- and how much they cherish the ones they do. Even if you just say 'thank you' it will be meaningful and make her feel great.

A great idea would be a gift certificate to Care4hire.com. She could hire a housekeeper or a babysitter of her own. It can be purchased at https://www.care4hire.com/gift-certificate/buy-gc.asp
