I have a 6 month old that still wears size 1 for shoes in infants. I guess I am comparing her with my first daughter. She is growing as she should according the the growth chart. Do you guys think that I should worry about anything? I mean my feet are small so I am figureing she is getting it from me. I think too much into things so someone give me relief

What can I do next?

I think kids feet just grow at different rates. Our 19 months old wear the same size as his 3 year old cousin.Small feet are good, she will be in the cute shoes for longer(they get less cuter as sizes go up:))

I'm sure she is just petite! My daughter was also a petite girl, and when she started walking, I had to special-order shoes for her because Stride Rite didn't make walkers in her size!

She is 18, off to college and just about 5' tall. She played HS sports and was in the marching band and her little feet grew to an adult size 7.

If you're really concerned ask your pediatrician about it, and see how she does when she starts walking..

Like my mom would say.. "If this is what you're worrying about, then G-d bless you!" Then she'd give me a big hug... So consider yourself hugged!

No I wouldn't worry about it. Kids grow at all different rates. Pretty soon you'll be writing to ask if it's unusual that your daughter's feet grew a size in 3 weeks. lol. I always found the perfect way to get my kids feet to grow. I'd find a wonderful pair of shoes .... and they'd have a growth spurt and be out of them in weeks.

Hi!
I love your question...isn't it amazing the small details that can consume us once we have kids and are trying to do everything right?
I had a large baby (9.5 lbs, 21 in. at birth) and she stayed in the 90th percentile up until most recently (10 months old). Yet when she was 6 months old, I think I was still putting her in some size 1 shoes and some size 2 shoes. The size 2 ones were big though.
Now that she is 10 months old she is in size 3 and they are even a little snug at times. It is just such a funny thing, the way babies grow. I think they do go through growth spurts and then times when it slows down.
I would double-check with the doctor, but I am sure your daughter is just perfect. HTH :)

Hi S.,

I love this question. I obsess over feet because I have a daughter who has clubfeet. I knew her feet would be small and they are. She is 3 1/2 and wears a size 7. But, what surprised me is that her younger sister (19 months) has very small feet too. At 19 months, she weighs about 22 pounds and is just now growing into size 4 shoes. I dare say that is pretty small. In comparison, her sister was just growing into a size 3 at 19 months, so you see how they both have small feet.

Before having kids I wore a size 7...4 kids and way too many pounds later and I wear an 8, but the point is you said you have small feet, so that is probably all it is. And they do all grow at different rates, so it could be that she is focusing on brain growth right now instead of foot growth (that'd be a good problem to have!).

I wouldn't worry about it. My twin girls were quite petite when they were babies. They weighed only 5 pounds at birth. They both started walking at about 9 months old. I tried to find walking shoes for them. No one made them in a size 1. That's what they were wearing at the time! I had to have them special made. They were quite expensive, too. Now they are adults and both wear a size 8!
