Slow Roasting Ribs....

Our local grocery store had a great sale on Beef Ribs...so I picked up a package.

it's been REALLY hot (upper 90s) and VERY humid (70% +) so I don't want to have my oven on, however, I don't want to stand in front of a BBQ either.....

SOOOO the ribs are marinating right now in my BBQ sauce....

how would you prepare them? BBQ or in the oven on low for hours? I do have a slow cooker - however, the rack is large and would not fit into the pot without cutting them up (urgh).

I will be serving with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggie - most likely corn on the cob....

Looking forward to your input!!

What can I do next?

Cutting them isn't fun, but the slow coker is the best way to go - especially in this heat. You probably only need to make 2 cuts - trust me, it will be worth it!

Our gas grill has a spit we can hook up and we put ribs on that to slow cook, rotisserie (sp) style.

Sounds yummy!

My hubby puts his on indirect heat on the grill for about 4 hours. He seasons them and then adds a wet rub or sauce just before serving, as the sauce can burn.

I would slice them into small enough pieces and place in slow cooker...outside, we tuck ours into our grill to keep it safe from animals save on heating up the house at all.

If you had a pit or barrel, slow roasting them in there, off to the side not on the coals would work best, but if not, slow roast them in the oven and when they are almost done place them on the grill for a little while, on the med heat and Then add the sauce, let them stay on the grill for a little longer.. They will be delicious.

I am not home so I do not have the directions, but you can look up Bobby Flays beef rib instructions.

I've been thinking about trying to do ribs at home lately.
I've found some great recipes for cooking them up in a crock pot.
Most recommend cutting them up.

I'd remove the bbq sauce, salt and pepper them real well, wrap them tightly in foil and slow roast at, say, 275 for about 3 hours. Pull them out, put your bbq sauce back on them and either grill for a few minutes or turn up the oven and bake till you get that crusty sauce type texture.

This won't help you if you don't want to light your oven but the way we do it (we've found works best) is to cook the ribs in a baking pan (a 9x13 glass will work fine) with about an inch of water....at about 300-325 deg for about 2.5 hours. Until meat is cooked through. Remove from baking dish to a platter. Place on grill. Use a brush to apply sauce. Allow BBQ sauce to carmelize and the meat to brown on the grill. Transfer to clean platter.

I'm guessing you don't have a pressure cooker? That's what I use when I cook ribs. I guess I would use the oven, it doesn't really heat up the house unless you're opening it up every minute. Sounds yummy!
