You're smart to avoid those chemical sweeteners - they are pretty toxic and you are showing a reaction to them which is good (in that you know they are yucky). There are some shakes you can make easily which are extremely well balanced and full of nutrients, but you can't usually find those in a store. There is a company that provides good follow-up and helps you get great immune support while keeping your blood sugar level. Most of the commercially available things are just buy-off-the-shelf and there's no guarantee of the quality of ingredients. I've had life-changing results since switching to this - haven't been sick in 5 years, have energy to work out 5-6 days a week, got rid of a lot of health issues.
The other thing you can do is quickly make some oatmeal in the microwave - it sticks with you and takes a long time to digest. Use regular oatmeal, not quick oats. Just put it in the bowl you'll be eating out of, add the water and maybe some cinnamon (nice tasting and good health benefits). You can throw in some fruit at the end - a handful of blueberries, a sliced banana, whatever, and a tablespoon of flaxseed oil. While it's cooking, pour yourself a cup of coffee or check your email or throw your lunch together. It takes about 4 minutes to eat.
I do this and then take my shake to have mid-morning so I don't do something dumb like grab a donut. Unbelievable nutrition long before noon!
