My 5 1/2 month old started sleeping through the night at two months old. She went to bed every night between 7 and 8 and woke up between 7 and 8. All of a sudden about three weeks ago she has been waking up 2 to 4 times a night. I know she is teething, two a cut threw, but I am dying of sleep deprevation, and if she turns herself over to her back she won't go back to sleep until I get up and turn her over to her stomach again. I don't know what to do. She is not unbearable during the day so why is she doing this at night?

What can I do next?

My daughter had the exact same schedule since she was 2 months old. Now at 7 1\2 months old she's also cutting teeth but still sleeping but she will have her restless nights. I give her baby motrin for the pain and within 15 minutes you can tell it has worked. The doctor recommened it and also baby orajel. That though really doesn't work for long. I do try to cuddle with her when she wakes up from the pain. Not for long but just enough to get her to calm down and them I make sure I put her to bed awake. Hope I helped a little. N. K

You got lucky, lol, for a while anyways. Try tylenol and teething tablets at night and see if that helps. Also, you should try to get her used to sleeping on her back-tummy sleeping isn't really safe yet at her age. You could try a sleep positioner and see if she would sleep on her side. You can just terat the symptoms though and since she is teething now-this is going to be a normal thing until she gets in all her teeth. My son did better getting them after the first four or so so maybe she will too.
Sorry!

My children's doctor told me that the orajel doesn't work well, in fact, they have so much saliva that it washes right off so they don't get the numbing that it's supposed to create. Instead, the doctor recommended pouring a little whiskey (Crown Royal or something) in the bottom of a glass, dipping your finger in it and rubbing it on the baby's gums once or twice. They may not like the taste at first, but they said it works better than the orajel or teething tablets and the alcohol will keep their gums from getting infected (I don't know why that is but that's what they told me) and hey, you can drink what is left in the class. :)

I went through about a month of this. The main reason for waking up was because they rolled over onto thier backs and were not able to roll back over on thier own. They would SREAM for us to flip them back onto the belly. We started to let them scream, hoping they would get mad enough to roll over but that didn't work:(
Soon they learned to roll on thier own and all was better again!
Good luck and hang in there.
