I need to know is there any type of natural sleeping aid
that would help me to get a good sleep at night.
I do not wish to take any pills for a person can get addicted to them.
I would appreciate any suggestion.
Thank you

I take a 3mg tablet of Melatonin every night before bed & it works great. I even give this to my children & they tell me they feel better in the mornings because they've slept more soundly. I also got my step-dad to take it & he reports a great nights sleep. You can find Melatonin just about everywhere. I got mine at Walmart.

Sleepy-time Tea is good too but I found the Melatonin did a more consistent job.

Hi V.,

I've read all the responses and won't write too much more that is repetative, but I have used melatonin for about six months now and it has worked great. I have a two year old that doesn't always sleep the best and it was taking a toll on my sleep and I needed something, but I didn't want to be groggy, didn't want to become addicted, and didn't want to not be able to hear my child. This works great because even if I have to get up with my child, I can still go right back to sleep without any problem and still feel good in the morning. I hope whatever you choose helps you because we all need good sleep to feel good in the long run.

Good luck!
D.

Good morning V.!

Valerian Root is wonderful for a natural great night's sleep and has no morning after hung over effects.

HOWEVER, It is stinky. So, shake a capsule into the cap of the bottle, pop into your mouth and follow with water. Do not touch the capsule, it will make your hands smell yuch! lol
But in no way will it make your body smell. You will not perspire the smell, its just the whole avoidance of touching it before it gets into you thing.

Good luck to you!
Ever have a natural question? I will answer if i can, i am pretty informed on it.

Melatonin if the problem is getting to sleep.
Extended Release Melatonin if the problems is staying asleep.

Also,

NutraSleep (by Source Naturals)

However, you may want to get bloowork checked as having problems sleeping can indicate something is wrong: http://itsnotmental.blogspot.com/2008/07/sleep-critical-y...

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the body, so it wouldn't cause addiction.

Catnip tea or sleepy time tea. My aunt swears by it. Of course I'm sure you know all of the other, no caffine, stay active during the day, don't watch tv in bed, etc.

Hope this helps

Try Meletonin. It is a natural supplement that your body produces. You can find it in the vitamin isle. Or try Calm Forte. It is also a all natural relaxant and sleep aid. Hope you will be having plenty of good sleep soon:)

Hi V.,
There's a wonderfully restful alternative that falls between counting sheep and prescribed medication. It's called Gentle Sleep Complex. It contains a complementary blend of herbs - valerian, chamomile, and passion flower - that promotes calm and restful sleep. For centuries these herbs have been used safely for occasional sleeplessness. I have used it and it worked really well. J. E.

There is Sleepy Time hot tea or you can take Melatonin. It is a natural sleep aid but it is a pill. My husband has been taking it for years. It helps him fall asleep and then when he wakes up in the middle of the night, it helps him fall back to sleep. Your body produces melatonin but as you get older it produces less and less. I have read about it and talked to a pharm and there was a specialist on tv about it. They all said it is natural and non-addictive.

V., Have you tried melatonin? It's an herbal supplement and I don't think it's addictive. I take one occasionally 1/2 hour before bedtime and it helps. As a writer, you know that journaling helps, too, at least if anxious thoughts are what is keeping you awake. Also, I've found I sleep better if I"ve excercise during the daytime. Hope this helps you get a good night's sleep!

Hey V.,
My name is M., and I am also a mother of two wonderful 8 year old boys. I have just recently been married, for three weeks now, and it's a challenge at times to get adjusted lol.
Anyways, the answer to your question is music. If you would like, you can just look around a Wal-mart and see that they have a lot of choices to sleep to. Try anything you like that sounds like things you are accustomed to like bird sounds in the early morning, the way waves sounds like on a beach, or even soft music that can help you sleep better. I have come to find out that it helps to have music like this at home, especially on days that i don't get any sleep from my hectic days. I work at a alternative school and since I drive the bus, I don't like any loud noises when I get home. Just peace. and it is really hard to accomplish that with a new husband, and two spoiled eight year old boys in the house. I am a christian also who juggles going to services, cleaning my church, practicing sign language, and handling or doing anything else that needs to be done into my days. And yes, most often, it's really hard to get to sleep when I need to, lol. So, if you would like, just email me back and let me know how this works for you, because it sure works for me. I know how you feel about not wanting to take any pills. I am the same way. I don't take any medicine, and I do my best to wait it out, and not have to take any medicine. I have always been a fan or just praying it through, than shoving pills down my throat, lol
A mother of two,
M.

Go to your local Health Food store... not like GNC or the town pharmacy. There is a natural health food store that carry
homeopathic remedies along with some foods and condiments that are natural. They will have eveything that you need for everything you can think of that will match anything that you can find in the pharmacy.

I'm sure it's been suggested, but my husband has taken over the counter melatonin for years. It definitely works for him. Just remember not to take it too late in the night if you want to wake up feeling decent in the morning.

I don't know about natural sleep aids and you didn't give much info in your e-mail. Just wanted to ask if you had been tested for sleep apnea? I have it and it was unbelievable how tired I was all the time. I didnt' realize that i was waking so many times during the night.

Good luck

Check into Melatonin. I understand that it is a wonderful natural sleep aid. My cousin just started using it about 2-3 months ago and she said it has been a lifesaver for her during a very stressful time in her and her family's lives. Ask with your doctor or pharmacist about it....I would think it can be purchased "over the counter" and doesn't need a prescription.

hi V.,
I'm sorry you can't get enough sleep, this is really a big problem. You already have some recomendations but I have one more to add. It's called L-ornithine, is a supplement you can find in caps in health stores. No addictions and excellent results, recommended by dr Hulda Clark, if her name doesn't say anything, she's one of the famous researchers in natural healing... I used it successfully during my cleansing programmes. Containes magnesium too.
I agree with chamomile but usually isn't very successful by itself. It might help you fall asleep but doesn't always last during the night.
Have you ever tried lavender oil? You could either rub your feet with a few of drops or use it with a diffuser in the bedroom.
hope this helps
