My son just turned two, he was sleeping from 8pm until 7am until about a month ago. In the past month we have moved. Ive tried to get him to be comfortable in his new room. He will take naps there with no problems. But sleeping at night is different every night. We have not changed his bed hes is still in a crib. We try to go into his room and do the same routine we have been doing for a year now books, songs, lights off then one last song into his bed, Hes okay for about half an hour then he cries for as long as it takes to get someone to see him we've tried the cry it out method and the checking in on him method. Sometimes he'll go to sleep for an hour or two then wake up crying and will not stop. Any ideas would be welcome

We just moved a few months ago with our 2 year old son. We had a baby two weeks before too, so he was dealing with both issues. He adjusted to sleeping in his new room after just 1 or 2 nights of crying, but it definitely took him a few weeks to be comfortable with his new life and accept that this is home now. It will probably just take some time for your son to accept his new room and his new house, and some patience on your part. Moving is huge for an adult to deal with, and even harder for a child. He probably just needs a little extra support now to help him feel comfortable. It is definitely frustrating, but it will get better!

Maybe it's an issue of the light, since he is okay during the daytime. Personally, I find nightlights to cast an eerie glow. I prefer to use a blue "party bulb" (that fits in a regular lamp). I can usually get them at WalMart - although sometimes they are out of stock. They come in all colors, but blue is the best (try green next, if there is no blue). It is 25 watts, but with the blue color it doesn't seem very bright, casts a very gentle soft light. No eerie shadows. Not hard on the eyes. My kids love them!

When we moved it took my then-2.5-year-old daughter a while to adjust to sleeping through the night in the new house. I don't object to the CIO method, but I think here it might be counterproductive because I bet he really is scared in his new room at night. My advice is to put an airbed or something similar on his floor and sleep in there when he gets up at night. Not ideal, but he's still sleeping "alone" in his bed in the new room. If he's still needing you in the middle of the night after 2-3 more weeks, then maybe do CIO. Good luck.

Sometimes it just takes time. Maybe he misses his old room maybe he's starting to become afraid of the dark. I'd start w/ a night light but it could just be he misses his old room he was comfortable there and just hasn't gotten used to sleeping in this new room. When we moved it took my 8 month old from Feb. until the summer to start sleeping good in his new room and it wasn't until we roomed him in with his big brother that he started sleeping good again.

has he said anything about being afraid or something like that? If so you could take a spray bottle and spray with water to get rid of the "monters"
