Sleeping a LOT!

OK mamas out there...I'm not complaining, but my 3 month old has been sleeping 10-14 hours straight for a month... I put him to bed last night at 10 and he's still sleeping...it's noon now. I want to wake him up, but people always say to just let them sleep. I'm just curious if anyone else's child out there does this? Or am I just extremely lucky?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thanks everybody!

he eats 6-8oz of formula or breast milk at each feeding...which happens now about 4-5 times/day. so he's eating enough..he's growing, peeing, pooping and alert. He's due for his next checkup in 3 weeks so we'll see how things change. But yes, he doesn't even wake up to eat...he usually gets 8oz at his last feeding and then he's out. Then when he wakes up, I give him another 8. then the rest of the day he gets 6 or 7 depending on his mood. He still takes shorter naps during the day, 1 1/2-3 hours sometimes.

My daughter was the same way as a baby. At 3 months I still woke her up enough to feed her before I went to bed and she would sleep in until 10 or 11 am sometimes. I did let her stay up until 9 or 10 pm (her older brother goes to bed at 8 so she got extra attention after he was in bed). Enjoy having a baby that sleeps through the night. Wake her up a bit earlier in the morning if it works better for you. She will adjust her naps to compensate.

Normal. Great - my kids are like that. Just put him to be earlier so you can get out of the house and go on a walk or something - and have time in the evening with your husband with no baby.

Growing is hard work mommy. Little man needs his sleep. However if you a truly upset and worried, call your Dr. The Dr or the nurse will be able to tell you what you should do and they might wanna look at him just because he is still so new.

My daughter has always been a sleepy head!
After the first month she sleeped through the night. All I have to say is enjoy it!
My daughter is now 5 and sleeps from 8:30 pm to 9/10:00 am. She is a very active child through out the day.
So consider yourself one of the lucky moms!
But if it does really worry you, get him checked up on.

Our daughter was similar, but not as long. I took some advice at the time and would wake her for feedings at around 4-5 hours, mostly 5. I wish I didn't, even though she's a good sleeper now. I think babies can tell you if they are hungry. And like others said if the bodily functions and eating playing growing are natural then it's fine. Good luck!

My son slept 10 hours straight per night starting at 6 weeks... sometimes longer. He did cluster feed from about 5-9pm... feeding every hour, but then would sleep great all night. As long as he continues to grow and develop normally, count your blessings!!

I am so jealous! My 4 month old has is lucky to get 3.5 hours in the first stretch and then is up every hour!

As long as he is gaining weight properly and having a normal amount of wet diapers, there is nothing to worry about.

If he is happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry. When he is awake, is he eating normally? Is he gaining weight? Is he starting to be more aware of his surroundings, trying to roll over, etc.? If "yes" to these questions, then you are just extremely lucky.
