Hey there fellow Moms ...My question I have I know has been asked several times already but I seriously do not plan to go back and search for them so here it goes. My 4 month old son sleeps initally for 4 hours and then nurses and back to sleep he goes for 2 and on and on and on till morning. During the day he goes the typical 4 to 6 hours between feedings. I am also aware most of it is my fault because I do not want him to wake the other 2 boys in the next room. I do try with the pacifier first sometimes that works only for an hour...so share with me some of the things you would do to keep from offering the breast to get them back to sleep. With my first well he slept with us so it was like a buffet for him at his beckon call as for the second after we delt with the reflux things went smooth and I just do not recall getting up that often with him except for the growing spurts.

At four months, they still need to eat about every 4 to 6 hours, so please don't push him further than that. The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley has lots of great suggestions.

i would have given anything for six hours even if it was durring the day at four months! from what i understood it was best for you to sleep with your baby while breast feeding so they can have it as they needed. (thats what i was told while trying to breast feed ) we didnt meet safty co sleeping suggestions so he never sleept with us. if there only getting milk they need to eat often. if you pump do you get enough milk? sorry my suggestion isnt what you wanted to hear but i think you should feed your baby as much as he wants espically durring the milk only phase.

We did the same thing with our first. With our second we used the Baby Whisperer. It is not cry it out and it is not Dr. Sears. It was a perfect fit for us. We did use a pacifier as well--and we had a co-sleeper so we didn't follow the plan completely, but overall it was a gentle approach to scheduling without the cry it out. I do think 4 months is a growth spurt time, but you want to be careful it isn't becoming habit forming.

Maybe you could tr feeding him more often during the day, make it every 3-4 hours during the day, to make sure he's nice and full, then maybe he won't require so much at night. (It's like you jus need to swat the day and night, lol) We did that with our son, fed him an additional feeding during the day and it seems to help, he now sleeps 9-3, wakes for a second, I change him and put back in bed and then he wakes again around 5 ish for a feeding. (hes 6 months now)

Good luck to you!

I would try to feed him more often during the day - if he is going 6 hrs sometimes between feedings in the day he may really need the calories and be looking for them at night. Do you cluster feed in the evening? Does he know how to fall asleep on his own? If not, I would work on that too. Good luck! I wish you lots of sleep!

I would try to feed him more during the day. He should still be eating anywhere from 6 to 10 times a day at his age. I would shoo for every 3-4 hours during the day and see if it helps at night.
