Sleep Coach

Has anyone ever used a sleep coach or sleep specialist to help get their baby to sleep though the night? Our baby was doing great but recently went backwards and at 4 months old is waking 2-3 times a night. She was doing only 1 time if that until a week ago. We have read the books and lots of them, she isn't our first, and I know she can do it. I was just wondering if anyone went the route of hiring a sleep coach, if it was worth it, who you used, and was it a phone consult or in home consult.

Thanks

What can I do next?

Babies go through cycles where they sleep longer and then begin waking more and then go back to sleeping more. Growth spurts, teething, working on and meeting milestones, physical and mental developments all contribute to various cycles of sleeping.
At 4 months old, waking 2-3 times a night is 100% normal.
I would never in a million years hire someone to teach my baby to go against human nature!

Never used one but if they are like other coaches they are just going to make you do what you already know you should do.

I hear that there is a good one who gets quite a lot of use in Brooklyn NY he was featured in the recent "French Babies Don't Throw Food Book."

We used the Ferber Method. It worked well for us and for our son.

Good luck to you and yours,

Babies wake up for many reasons..........growth spurt so they are hungry, growing or working on a milestone. If you think she is hungry, just give her a small bottle and put her back to sleep. If she is just waking up and playing in her crib, leave her be. She is old enough to be able to fall back to sleep without much or any intervention. Waking and cry (not hungry), give her the binki or blanket she loves and lay her back down without much interaction.

I wouldn't worry, she'll go back to her old ways:-). My six month old did the same exact thing at 4 months, and actually my good friend experienced it too...there must be something about that 4 month mark! It lasted a couple weeks if I remember but then she went back to her normal routine. And to give you something to look forward to, now at 6 months, most days she'll go through the night:-). So hang in there, it will pass:-)

I agree with Katrina! This is normal! Both my boys did not sleep through the night until a year old. Now they are 5 and 2. My 5 year finally has a good sleep schedule. It is something that is learned with love and timer!:)
