Sleep and Health Questions

My 14 month old daughter has struggled with sleep issues always. She being my 3rd child, I am aware that each child is different. But, she has some different issues from my other two children. Like my other 2, she has ear tubes after several ear infections. The different issues for her include: low weight (3rd % for age), frequent low grade fevers-1 to 3 per week, crying out, hitting her head, fingers and lips that turn purple at random times, and terrible sleep patterns. She wakes up often and even wakes up screaming at times. All of these things happen while at home and in the daycare setting.
I have talked with the Doctor about some of these things at her 12 month check. They keep persisting or are getting more frequent. I realize the weight thing is not too big of a issue-she is just a peanut though-eating is somewhat sporadic-like most children this age.
Does anyone have any thoughts about these things or am I just over reacting?

Adding to my previous request...
My pediatrician has said she has a slight heart murmor and that they would monitor that at each visit. The fevers run from around 100- 102--at different times. I have always thought it to be wierd for her to have a fever for just one day--I treat with Tylenol/Motrin.
I also want to add that her other developmental areas are within an average range.

What can I do next?

Has your dr looked into sleep apnea? I remember reading that there's a coorelation between low birth weight and sleep apnea...

Good luck to you and your family in your quest for answers....it's a hard place to be....knowing that there may be something needing medical attention, but not knowing yet what it is or how to proceed. Trust your mother's intuition and be persistant with the doctors. You're in my thoughts.

Please don't wait another minute.....get her to another doctor. Lips and fingers turning blue could mean heart problems. Bad sleeping patterns can also mean heart problems, pulmonary hypertension comes to mind. With PH you don't sleep well because you can't breath well and your heart is doing some crazy beats (A-Fib comes to mind)so the oxygen is not getting to all of the extremities.
As someone who has lived with A-Fib, heart murmur, ASD, VSD and PH for over 50 years, I know how she could be feeling....please don't wait....
Praying for your daughter. Let us know what happens....

I would definately seek a 2nd opinion about her ear issues. I would be especially concerned about her what appears to be pain when you say she is hitting her head and waking up screaming. I would also be concerned about her blue lips and fingers if they are happening when she isn't upset. Those indications are those of loose of blood flow to certain parts of the body. Please seek a 2nd opinion right away.

I agree with the first poster. Do not let this go! If you bring her to the ER they will investigate all possible causes. Otherwise I would at the very least go to another doctor and insist that they do some tests to rule out heart or lung issues. I've known 2 children with heart defects that had similar symptoms and I remember an acquaintance in high school who was small for her age and always talked about being tired...she ended up dying at 19 from an undiagnosed heart condition. I don't want to scare you- it could be as simple as an infection of some kind- but it also could be very serious. Keep pushing for answers and look for a doctor that does tests "just to be sure"
