it does not matter how much sleep they get. if they are happy then they got enough. if they are cranky they need more sleep.
check out a book called 'sleepless in america' to assist you with setting your day up for good nights sleep.
On an average how many hours sleep does your baby get in 24hours? I've heard/read the average is 15 hours a day for a 9 month old. My son has never been a big sleeper. He sleeps an average of 12-13 hours a day. 10 hours at night and 2 naps between 1-1.5 hours each. 😁
Thanks everyone, I was worried I was being a "bad M." because my son wasn't getting enough sleep, especially when they say thrt "need 15 hours for good brain development" , especially on the days he barely gets 10 total- I really freak on those days 😁😁😁glad to know I'm not the only one with a kid that doesn't need much sleep.

your son hasn't read all the baby books, apparently. so i guess he's just not doing it 'right.'
but hey! maybe he's doing it just right for HIM.
my babies slept anywhere from 8-20 hours on any given day.

My boys were both about the same. As long as he seems to be getting enough sleep he is getting enough sleep. My boys also gave up naps early. By the time they were 2 1/2 they were sleeping about 10 hours at night with no naps. They are tweens now and are still on the same schedule. Personally I am glad they don't need a ton of sleep because we get more time to spend together and have fun!
Your son sounds like my oldest. He wasn't a big sleeper, either. He would sleep 8 to 9 hours each night, and as a baby would sporadically nap. Drove me nuts! While I might have appreciated more sleep, our son clearly didn't need it.
When our younger son was born I tried not to think about it. I just followed his lead and put him down if he looked sleepy. I would have liked more sleep the, as well, but I as a much happier momma for not thinking about it too much.
Out of three kids, I only had one that was a big sleeper. My girls sound like your son. My oldest in fact never got more than 11 total.
My almost 4 month old does 14 hours at night (8p-10a) plus a 3 hour nap (1ish-4ish). This is pretty much the same schedule my other 3 had also until around potty training.
At 9 months of age most kids are working on getting down to one longer nap in the afternoon. Then sleeping like 8-9pm-7am is pretty normal too. They can't go a lot of hours without food yet so they are probably still waking up during the night time. I think your child is getting a lot of sleep.
