Skinny Pants

What do you think of them? I got a black pair for Christmas along with some of those fun chunky (but not too crazy) boots to go with them. But the pants are black and the boots are brown, so I don't think they look good together. I see them paired online with little ballet flats and chunky heels, and boots of course, but am at a total loss. I keep thinking I'm too old/short for them... opinions? Anyone wear them, and if so, how?

(ps, I'm 4'11 and 30! )

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all for all the advice, I decided to wear them and got a lot of compliments :)

Let me start my saying, I'm 5'4", chubby and about to be 29.
I NEVER thought I would ever try on skinny pants. The word skinny and me just have never been in the same sentence.....well since I was a kid, lol.
I went to the store to find a pair of jeans, I ended up making the decision as soon as I put them on. They made me look so good, gave my body a whole different shape.
I actually get a ton of compliments when I wear them. I usually pair them with ballet flats. I also wear them with more flowy type shirts.

Black and brown look good together. The brown takes the edge off and updates the look. You need longer looser tops to balance the skinny jeans. But if you don't like them don't wear them or nothing works. They do look cute though.

If you have the figure, you're never too old for skinny pants (I'm 47 and this is my third go around in the skinny pant fashion cycle).
Since you're on the shorter side of height, you might want to be careful of pairing them with chunky boots and a big top - the combination of both could weigh you down and make you look like a hobbit. If you wear the chunky boots (I'm assuming you mean something like Uggs?), balance them with a long, form-fitting top (down to the bottom of your buttocks). If you wear an over-sized top, balance it with ballet flats or feminine heels. If the over-sized top is a lighter-weight shirt, you could try cinching it loosely at the waist with a big belt. Check out some magazines or on-line resources for some more ideas for your new clothes and body type.
Have fun with your new looks.

Okay, so this is gonna sound negative, but I'm just answering the question. I don't like that style at all...on anybody. They are just not flattering in any way. I think that skinny people can get away with it, though, no matter the age, as long as you match it up and accessorize appropriately for your age. People suggest that you're okay if you have the figure, but nobody mentions what that particular figure might be. Be honest with yourself about YOUR figure. Skinny jeans can pass on skinny legs. They should not accompany a muffin top and should fit as high as they are meant to go on the hips/waist. If you have to stuff anything into them or intentionally leave anything out or strategically cover anything up, then you are in the wrong pants.

I'm a fan of the skinny jean/pants and I am 36, don't put an age limit on the clothes you want to wear as long as it looks appropriate and not trashy :) You can for sure wear black pants with brown boots, they are both considered neutrals and all neutrals go together as well as pairing any neutral with other colors. I have grey suede like tall boots and I would wear them with black or brown colors as well. Have fun with your clothes!

Well I love the skinny jean look with boots. I just got some new maternity skinny jeans from Forever 21 and I love them! Your not too short to wear them...I am only 5'3. But when you put them on if you feel that they are not flattering then they probably are not. Just cause you can wear them doesn't mean you should.....I not saying you shouldn't I have no idea what your body type is like. But I remember when the baggy weighed leg cargo style pants were in and just couldn't wear them. Im short so they drowned me and where ever unflattering. But again if they look cute and fit nice wear them!

I got my first pair of skinny jeans at Christmas too... My fiance says that they make my butt look great, and my legs look longer. I just wear them with my regular shoes... but if they are too long then they look funny if they bunch. As for the color combo.. I would say that it would depend on what type of shirt you are wearing. lol.

Okay, since I didn't know how old or tall you are I looked at your profile. If that is a recent picture of you, you look like you could totally carry it off. I say go for it!

Brown and black totally go. My hubs wears an all black suit and brown shoes and he looks amazing. If you look in mags there is a lot of black clothes paired with brown shoes/boots. Have fun.

You are never too old!! I love not having to wear the "mom jeans or styles". I shop in the jr. department with my daughters. When my 19 year old left for college she took with her some of my clothes. I don't like brown and black together but I have noticed alot of people are wearing it together. If you feel comfortable in them and like the colors together go for it!

If they are black, I would wear them with black boots or flats that matched. If you like them why not? Im 28 and pregnant and I still wear them.

There was a time that brown and black together was a no no, but that is not so anymore. You can wear the black pants and the brown boots.... just use a scarf or some other brown thing up top the blend your boots in.

Well, nice that someone thinks that nicely of you. :-)) My legs have never been the kind that could fit into skinny jeans. Maybe too much tennis, volleyball, and track in junior high and high school. lol
But hey, I say if you fit into them nicely and they flatter your femininity, then go for it hon. The brown boots do seem a bit different with the black skinny pants, and if you do not think they look good together then look for another alternative footwear. It is for you, and for you to enjoy, so you do what looks best.
Umm, too old? Come on now. If ya still look good, nothing wrong with letting it show. :-) Enjoy!!

55 and 5'3" and 120 lbs and have three pairs which I wear w/ tall boots, Uggs, flip flops and flats. Love them. They hold everything in.
Brown and black -eh! Not my favorite but with a brown belt, accessories- it certainly works.
I agree-Rock 'em!

If you have to body to pull it off, got for it! I prefer ballet flats, myself. I think the boots look dumb.
