Skin Issues - One Year After Childbirth!

Prior to the birth of my son a year ago, I never had any issues with my skin. Now, I have terrible acne on my back and these strange bumps and red marks on my thighs and upper arms and shoulders. It is terrible and I don't want to wear short sleeves or tank tops! I have not had my period yet either so I would assume that this is all hormonal in some way. Does anyone else have these issues? Seems like it should have gone away by now!

What can I do next?

The bumps are called "keratosis Pilaris" and for lack of a better term, they suck! Check out http://www.keratosispilaris.org/ . It has been really helpful.

I'm having similiar issues, and I've never had any issues with my skin. It's not fun at all. It got worse once I stopped nursing. I think my hormones are all out of whack and I'm sure that's what's up with you. Have you ruled out another pregnancy? Sometimes skin stuff can come up with the change of season, new soap, different fabrics, etc.

It is more than likely hormonal, but there may be some changes that never go back. Before I had my sons I had wonderful even skin, and could go 2 days without washing my hair. Now my skin and hair are so oily I can hardly keep up, and my son is 4.

My guess is that it's hormonal. Are you nursing that you haven't had a period yet? Have you had all your normal postpartum appointments and had a chance to discuss this with your OB/GYN?

Pregnancy and childbirth prepare our bodies for a new normal which may be completely different from our pre-child days.

I'd follow up with your doctor just to make sure it's normal and to see what treatment options are available.

I developed allergies after my DD was born. With all the change in hormones and my body, I all of a sudden had these horrible breakouts. I went to the doctor and they did blood tests for my hormones and allergies and turns out I am now allergic to eggs and milk! Go figure! Hope you find some relief! :-)

I have something that would help. It is a detox mask that you can use on your body. I would be more than happy to give you a sample.
