Sippy Cup - Aubrey,TX

I am trying to get my son off the bottle and on the sippy cup. He will take juice out of a sippy cup, but not his formula. He is only on formula for another month, so I'm not too concerned about that. I was wondering which sippy cups you all prefer? He has tried a couple and done okay. He tends to bite the silicone nipples and tear them. I want cups that won't leak when he shakes them like crazy and some that are easy to clean. I was also wondering how many to get.

What can I do next?

I like the Playtex brand with the rubber stopper on both ends. The other kind with the white plastic stopper tends to fall out when my DD bangs it on the counter top.

My 13 month old prefers the soft spout sippy cups made by Gerver, but I think they leak some! I will be buying the platex ones instead. They have handles too, which really helps her hold on to them. She has still not wanted to drink out of a cup with a hard top, and I still warm her milk some or she wont drink it, so that may help you out there too. I would not even put formula in his sippy cup, just let him have milk in there, and that may help with transition too. It was right at 12 months that my daughter really accepted the sippy cup instead of her bottle. Good luck ~A.~

I also vote for the Playtex cups; I have two sets of twins and those have worked best for me. But since your son is the one who has to drink out of it, you may want to keep trying different ones until you get the one he likes. I had the same problem the other posters mentioned with the soft silicone; they just wanted to chew on it instead of drink from the cup. My boys were quite opposed to the cup and I am sorry to say that it took me until they were 2 years old to truly get them off the bottles and using the cups for milk. So good luck. In the end, it was the Playtex cups they liked the best; seemed to be the easiest for them to get milk out of.

Another vote for Playtex here! They don't leak much at all. My son never liked the Nuby or other transitional cups. I tried a few but really just ended up going straight to the Playtex.

I used Gerber and Playtes love the both. Have you tried using a playtes sport with the straw for his formula. Neither one of my kids would drink formula from a cup, but they would through a straw.

I've tried almost every brand out there. My personal favorites are the Playtex brand ones. They are the only ones I've found that don't leak and are easy to clean, and I've never had them break. I like the Gerber ones too, but once that hole the stopper goes in cracks, they leak. The Playtex have a rubbery stopper, so it doesn't crack the lid. A lot of my friends swear by the ones that don't have the stopper (I can't remember the brand), but my kids had trouble getting the liquid out and they always seem to leak on me.

Also, I wanted to add that my boys didn't really like the formula in the sippy cup either. Once we went to milk, they had no problem drinking that in the cup. They liked the milk much better. Plus, they ate the Gerber oatmeal for breakfast every morning, so I'd make that with milk or formula to get those extra ounces in, and I gave them yogurt at bedtime instead of the nighttime bottle. I used the Yobaby and eventually switched to the Dannon La Creme brand. They didn't like the "kid" flavored ones.

As for how many to get, it depends on how often you want to wash them. I run my dishwasher almost every day. I'd probably plan to have 4-6.

I have several Playtex ones but at 9 months she really didn't take to them as much as she likes the Nuby. She absolutely loves these and they are extremely easy to clean. They have a softer mouth piece and she is able to chew on them to her heart's content while she drinks from it.
